Our hands-on programs help students learn to understand emerging technologies and their effects on society through the combination of social science courses with their mathematics, science, computer science, engineering, and mechanical and electronic design studies.

Our faculty provide expertise in controls and robotics, processes, thermal sciences, automation, machine design, computer-aided design, material science, optics and lasers, production management, quality engineering and lean manufacturing.

The mechanical engineering program prepares you for a career in product or process design, research and development, or project engineering in an industrial setting. The manufacturing engineering program gets you ready for work in process design, production, facilities layout, tool design or project engineering in a manufacturing environment. Both also prepare you for graduate study.

In addition, we offer a full-time and a part-time master's program in engineering management that is based in the Twin Cities and is the only program in the state to earn certification of the American Society of Engineering Management.
