About the Department of Marketing

The marketing major is designed to develop skills and insights relating to strategies and activities for careers in marketing.  Students of marketing complete the core program of SCSU’s nationally accredited Herberger Business School, along with classes for their marketing major.  The marketing student will explore such diverse areas as:

  • Product planning and management
  • Distribution
  • Marketing research
  • Retailing
  • Advertising and promotion
  • Public relations
  • Consumer behavior
  • Sales
  • Store management

The demand for graduates in newly developed areas of marketing will greatly expand.  People who understand various cultures and the complexities of marketing in foreign countries will be in demand. Business and non-business organizations, like charities and health care, will drive demand for marketing majors.
