Mathematics Placement Testing

Note:  A student who is currently taking or has taken a math course may not retake a placement exam for a higher course placement. Once you are enrolled or have taken a math course a placement score will not allow you to change to a higher course.

  A student may take a math placement test no more than twice in a 12 month period. 


Set up your appointment early so as avoid the last minute rush and not being able to test.

. Be specific and know which test you need when scheduling. To be able to schedule you for a test, we require:

  • first and last name
  •  student ID #,
  • test  that is needed (ie….Math, Calc., English)
  • telephone number (for any questions we may have or in case of cancellation)
  • school / program for which you are testing (ie....SCSU / ARCC / SCTC

NOTE:  These appointments are NOT for students attending Advising Days.


  • Must have scheduled an appointment.
  • Bring picture I.D.
  • Arrive at least 5 minutes before testing time.
  • The testing process will take approximately one hour - (Test itself is untimed).
  • Calculators will not be used.


Test  or sufficient Act math score required for STAT 193, 219, 239 and all entry level MATH classes.
