Company Overview:Project for Pride in Living‘¦s MFIP Programs are accepting a second intern in the Family Stabilization Services position for spring semester (Jan.-May). This is a great position for a student or recent graduate in human services, family social science, social work or related fields. The position provides a blend of direct service with diverse families, project opportunities, and training/interaction with experienced social services staff. Connections to Work contracts with Hennepin County to provide MFIP case management services to families where at least one member has a disability or health condition preventing full-time employment. CTW help families address these barriers through strengths-based case management, individualized goal plan development and referrals to various community resources and services.
Responsibilities:Compose and mail monthly participant newsletter and calendar, recruiting participants to assist with newsletter editing/mailing as appropriate. « Conduct detailed research on community services and resources as requested by supervisor, and bring information back to Connections to Work through staff meetings, site visits, etc. « Meet 1:1 with participants to create resumes and assist with job search and applications. « Assist CTW staff with recruiting and coordinating guest presenters for weekly Connections to Work participant workshops and help with the logistics and facilitation of these groups. « Help CTW staff recruit participants to attend workshops (via phone, mail and in-person contact). « Contribute to Connections to Work‘¦s ongoing development of dynamic programming and services; actively communicate ideas and suggestions to staff at meetings and through individual projects. « Attend home visits to participants with department staff, as requested. « Case note interactions with participants and provide notes to staff. « Initiate relationships with participants attending workshops through proactive and pro-social engagement to increase their support network. « Meet 1:1 with program participants to locate appropriate community resources and services as needed. Help participants fill out applications, schedule appointments and register for services as necessary. Assist with goal-setting and complete assessments/intakes with participants as directed. « Attend staff meetings and trainings, as assigned. « Other tasks and administrative duties, such as data entry and new case file creation, as requested. Additional Tasks and Responsibilities: « Answer/route phone calls and questions from employees, participants, vendors and the public « Support PPL‘¦s work and mission by accepting assignments for special projects, committees, etc. « Maintain professional communication with participants, co-workers and partnered services providers « Perform related administrative duties, such as data entry and the creation of new case files « Perform other duties as assigned or directed. Minimum Requirements « Must be a self-starter and comfortable with minimal supervision « High level of attention to detail and follow-through « Excellent verbal and written communication skills « Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel; ability to navigate online databases « Ability to adhere to HIPAA, ADA and data privacy requirements « Must have reliable transportation and no criminal record of gross misdemeanors or felonies « Available 10-25 hours per week Education and/or Experience « Actively pursuing a degree in or recent graduate of a Human Services-related field or experience working in a relevant field. « High degree of cultural sensitivity; comfortable working with participants from diverse backgrounds. « Knowledge of mental illness and chemical dependency issues is helpful. Physical Demands-While performing the internship duties, the intern is regularly required to sit, bend, and communicate. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
