Responsibilities:Position Summary: This position will entail a mix of outreach and research projects. Interns will primarily be working independently (although the supervisor and other support options will be readily accessible). Interns will have some flexibility/input in choosing projects that are most applicable to their interest area(s). Interns can expect to be given meaningful projects that can be used as part of their professional portfolio. Business, public relations, marketing, communications, or similar major preferred The office will be ideally staffed by an intern 3 days/wk for 4-5 hours per day during core business hours Interns will be required to participate in an orientation (by phone or on site) at the Better Business Bureau in St. Paul The intern will be supervised by the Better Business Bureau Institute for Marketplace Ethics with local oversight from the SBDC-Central Region Duties: 1. rmulate professional and accurate responses to frequently asked questions about the BBB by businesses and consumers (there might be some walk-in traffic or phone calls) 2. Be responible for maintaining and distributing educational materials to businesses and consumers (via specific planned outreach events) 3. Forward any business complaints/inquires to appropriate departments at the BBB headquarters in St. Paul. 4. Conduct demographic and economic research for the St. Cloud region 5. Execute a resource mapping project (to assist with relationship building efforts in the region) 6. Develop ideas on how to generate business interest in learning about the accreditation process at the Better Business Bureau 7. Submit content for the BBB web site specific to the St. Cloud region 8. Set appointments for BBB outreach meetings/presentations/expos or related in the area 9. Assist in promotions and events as needed
