Responsibilities:The Communications internship will: • Treat Student Government as a client, reporting to Executive Team • Provide programming for PR events surrounding elections, referendum votes, etc. • Manage and communicate the Student Government brand internally and externally • Lead an appointed committee and delegate tasks to achieve imaging goals • Prepare press releases and occasional commentary • Work independently with little or no supervision • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner • Manage the Student Government social media accounts • Work closely with the Executive Team to ensure organizational goals are being met through the committee work plan The ideal candidate will be able to handle a wide range of public relations and brand support related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting the Student Government executive team. The ability to interact with students, faculty and staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Written and verbal communication skills, strong team leadership and attention to detail are equally important. Requirements: • Student at St. Cloud State University • Well-versed in public relations and brand management strategies • PR event programming experience preferred • Highly competent in developing press releases • Superb organization skills • Must be able to attend all Student Government and Executive Board Meetings in addition to 5 office hours per week. Student Government meetings are Thursday evenings at 5 p.m. • Must be able to effectively lead committee meetings and delegate tasks to members • Strategic social media management skills Compensation: Semester stipend available as a member of the Student Government Executive Board Duration: 2011-2012 School Year Location: Student Government – AMC 138
