Company Overview:The mission of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) is to prepare minority youth for careers in the media industry through a multi-year, paid work/study program featuring on-the-job training, mentoring, academic achievement, college scholarships, and professional development. The Foundation offers a multi-year work/study program to prepare qualified minority youth for careers in the media industry. Students in the program work for media companies during summers and school breaks from the summer following their senior year in high school until they graduate from college. Students have an opportunity to learn many aspects of corporate operations, develop company-specific skills, and receive annual performance evaluations. Corporations have an opportunity to train and mentor students with the option of full-time employment upon completion of their college degrees. Students earn hourly salaries as well as matching funds for college expenses. Academic excellence is a key element of the program. Students are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain in good standing. Currently, 250 students participate nationwide and 75-80 new students join the program each year. Nearly 60-70% of our graduates accept positions in the industry after college.
