Responsibilities:Develop and maintain high quality information products that facilitate external and internal customer product familiarity and ease of use. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned): 1. Assist in creating user manuals, maintenance manuals, and parts and schematics manuals.. 2. Follow style guide and prepare grammatically clean information products. 3. Edit content for consistency, grammatical correctness, and overall quality. 4. Interview and work closely with engineers and other technical personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of information at the level required for intended audience. 5. Work as a part of a technical communications team. 6. Responsible for researching, designing, and developing a variety of documentation, ranging from novice user to highly technical user. 7. Research and draw relevant information from vendor documentation, engineering specifications, and existing product documentation as appropriate. 8. Effectively use appropriate authoring techniques, tools, standards, and processes to create documentation deliverables. 9. Validate documentation deliverables. Ability and willingness to comprehend mechanical, fluid power, and electrical concepts and components. 4. This is an intern level position that requires close supervision with little to no independent work. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: The individual must be pursuing a BS degree in Technical Communication or English and shall have achieved junior status or higher. The individual shall also have completed the “core” coursework for his/her chosen discipline. COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to use computer keyboards and screens to access information necessary to perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities list above. Working knowledge with authoring tools (Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, and photo editing software). LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, supplier documentation, engineering drawings, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
