Assistantships, Scholarships, Financial Aid

A number of graduate assistantships, scholarships, tuition assistance, graduate research funds, and other financial aid options are available to graduate students. International students may apply for graduate assistantships and Academic and Cultural International Tuition Grants (ACITG). The ACITG tuition assistance program provides international students with a grant equal in amount to the non-resident portion of their tuition, upon admission to the university and as long as they continue to meet academic and related standards. Graduate assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis and require excellent GPA and GRE scores and/or significant professional experience in the mass media field. Academic year assistantship stipends range up to $9,500 and tuition assistance equals to 16 graduate credits for the academic year. We offer several types of graduate assistantships that fit the varying backgrounds, interests, and career objectives of our students.

Currently, three types of assistantships are available:

  • Graduate Assistants for Radio and TV stations
  • Research Assistants for Mass Communications Department
  • Teaching Assistants for Mass Communications Department

Research or Teaching assistants are responsible for assisting faculty members in their teaching or research. Qualified graduate students who would like to enter the teaching profession in the future may be assigned to teach an introductory course if so desired. Non-Departmental assistantships are also available in various offices of the university. There are also opportunities for part-time employment on campus. Campus employment wages for students start at $7 per hour.
