Mass CommunicationsMass Communications News Documentary premiersThursday, April 16, 2009 The locally produced documentary film, Symbol, recently premiered at the Miller Center Auditorium on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Gregory Martin, SCSU Associate Professor of Mass Communications, with the help of many former and current students, created Symbol. Symbol documentary research and production began in 2006 after a public announcement was made of plans to remove and replace the swastika symbol disks on the outside of St. Mary’s cathedral in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Completed in the spring of 2009, production on the documentary continued for three years and Martin recognized the many talents that went into the making of the film. “Many SCSU television production students and regional media professionals contributed time, services and talent to this production,” said Martin. The premier of Symbol was co-sponsored by the SCSU Jewish Studies and the SCSU Center for Holocaust & Genocide Education. Additional support was provided by the office of SCSU Provost & Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Michael Spitzer, Ph.D., the SCSU Graduate School, and the office of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Humanities. The Department of Mass Communications provided technical resource support. << Previous | Archive | Next >> |
