Mass Comm students win AP awards

Six Minnesota Associated Press Broadcasters Awards were recently awarded to five mass comm students for programs that aired on KVSC radio.
Senior Aaron Bjorkstrandest walked away with two honors when he was awarded Best in Show in radio class one and first place in the features category for “Rage Against Abuse.” He also won first in sports reporting for “Husky Hockey Review.”
Senior David Iverson took first place in the series/special category for “Paul Wellstone Remembrance.”
Senior Jenna Wundrow took first place in the documentary/investigative category for “SCSU Recycling Program: Green or Guilty?”
Juniors Peter Tomala and Patrick Sullivan received an honorable mention in sports reporting for “Husky Sports Friday.”
The KVSC student reporters competed against commercial and noncommercial broadcasters throughout Minnesota.
KVSC is St. Cloud State’s educational, student-operated radio station playing a diverse mix of alternative and progressive music along with eight daily newscasts and live play-by-play of St. Cloud State sports.
