Gretchen Tiberghien
Professor Tiberghien has served as the
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) advisor for 13 years,
and supervised the Bateman national case competition every year. Last year,
student Marie Norton won the Thompson scholarship and campaign competition. This
year, student Mana Fedora won the Thompson scholarship and campaign competition. Twice
a year, Professor Tiberghien assists PRSA members in preparation for their
accreditation exam. Pass rates on accreditation of PRSA member professionals
run between 80 to 100 percent. Minnesota has one of the highest pass rates
because we do a crackerjack job of preparing the candidates.
This year, she completed an application for PRSA Fellowship, the highest
credential in the field of public relations. The Fellows designation
is the third step of accomplishment. First you are a member, then you pass
accreditation (only 5% of PR professionals are accredited), then after a
long time you can be elected to the college of Fellows.
Additionally, she worked with an external client creating a marketing/pr
plan for a new business building million dollar homes in the Twin Cities,
and created promotional materials for a St. Cloud real estate broker. Professor
Tiberghien edits two newsletters, one for Minnesota Newspaper Association and one
for the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and authored a sidebar
on the “Sob Sisters” for Sloan’s Media America textbook. This
past year, she chaired the St. Cloud State University search committee for
the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
