Amy VanSurksum

Director of International Student Admissions

Amy is a Minnesota native. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota majoring in Russian Studies and International Relations. She has lived in St. Petersburg, Russia and traveled extensively throughout Asia and Scandinavia. Amy loves working in the international education field. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling domestically and internationally, caring for her husband and animal family, and exploring nature.

Susan Boehm


Susan Boehm

International Admissions Counselor

Susan Boehm grew up in Wisconsin and moved to St. Cloud in 1985.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts:  Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University.  After working for an insurance company, in a bank and as a substitute teacher, she felt the call to return to SCSU to complete two Master of Science degrees – one in College Counseling and Student Development; the other in Vocational Rehabilitation.

Susan enjoys reading, stamping, cross stitching, doing the crossword puzzle and Sudoku every day, traveling and spending time with her husband, son, daughter and a Maltese named Sophie.

David Di Maria


David Di Maria

Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Services

Originally from North Carolina, David has traveled extensively throughout Ireland, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe. As an undergraduate, David majored in English and International Studies, and studied abroad in Tartu, Estonia. He received his Masters of Education degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he held a graduate assistantship with the International Programs Center, was an ex-officio member of the International Students Association’s executive board, and served as an International Fellow (live-in advisor) in the international dormitory.

David’s professional goals are to provide ready support and sound advice to the SCSU international community, build bridges of peace and understanding through student diplomacy, and spearhead grassroots global competency initiatives to ensure that the campus community is exposed to and celebrates the cultural diversity that is SCSU.

In his spare time, David enjoys listening to Global Roots Radio, walking through St. Cloud’s many beautiful parks, tending his tiny herb garden, and visiting friends in locations around the globe.

Kim Koffi


Kim Koffi

SEVIS Coordinator

Kim Koffi is from New Hope, Minnesota.  She loves to write, read, scrapbook photos, travel, garden, ride bikes, go on long walks, and spend time with friends and family.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus and a Master of Science degree in College Counseling and Student Development from St. Cloud State University. Between degrees she has traveled extensively in the US and abroad.  She lived in Virginia, New York, and California before finally settling down with her family in St. Cloud.  She has also lived in two West African nations, Togo and Benin. She has traveled to France, Kenya, and Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula. It has been a while since living in a Francophone country, but she gets by with a little bit of French.

Jan Hallan
Accountant

Jan joined the CIS staff January 2007, her prior accounting experience includes twenty plus years in the housing/health care field.  Having a variety of travel adventures, Jan is excited about working with the CIS team.  It is a pleasure to be part of a program  that welcomes, encourages and supports International Students, as well as, encourages SCSU students to participate in the various travel abroad programs.

Wade Sherman
Alnwick Residential Coordinator

Wade Sherman joined CIS as Assistant Coordinator for the Centre for British Studies at Alnwick Castle in Fall 2000. He returned to the staff in 2004 as the Resident Coordinator after completing a Masters degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Bowling Green State University. Wade received his bachelors degree from St. Cloud State University and studied both on the England program and a Spanish language program in Costa Rica. He has traveled throughout Latin America, Europe and the Baltic and former Soviet block.  When not at work he enjoys movies, concerts, and comedy shows.

Wade is responsible for the student services and operation of the Alnwick castle program in England, where he is based.
