United States Official Paperwork

  • Did you receive more than one letter of acceptance from a university in the United States? If so, write letters of regret to those universities you have decided not to attend. Return any official documents, such as the form I-20 (form DS-2019 for exchange students), that may have been sent to you by those universities.
  • Do you have your St. Cloud State University form I-20 or DS-2019? Do not come to SCSU using another school's I-20 to enter the United States. It is illegal to enter the country with another school's I-20 if you intend to come to school at SCSU. Please contact our office if you do not have your SCSU issued I-20 or DS2019.
  • Have you obtained your Student Visa using your SCSU I-20? Please refer to the following website to learn more about applying for a student visa. In the event that you choose St. Cloud State University after you got your visa, you MUST present the St. Cloud State University I-20 or DS2019 at your Port of Entry or you will be out-of-status even before you arrive.
  • Do you have a valid passport? You must have a valid passport during your entire stay in the United State.
  • Do you need an exit/entry permit from your country? If you need a permit, be sure to obtain one before departing
