I have experienced Saint Cloud State University in every way possible.  It’s a home far away from home where you will get the best possible experiences as an international student. I graduated with a Biochemistry degree from St Cloud State and returned back after a year’s job for my Masters.

As a student in Biochemistry SCSU availed everything a best school could offer with technology, library, on campus job, recreational activities, state-of-art labs and highly motivated professors who email you back at even at 2am. The huge body of international students and domestic students with cultural nights every week, I experienced the diversity and culture from every part of the world.  SCSU is a Unity within the diversity providing the platform to meet people from everywhere around the globe, work together and live together. I love swimming, biking, fishing, kayaking, camping and all is possible here at SCSU with two swimming pools, Mississippi river, Beaver trail, and Parks everywhere nearby college. When you get here, do not forget to go to the nearby Munsinger-Clemens garden and the get the view of SCSU over the pristine Mississippi which gives you some unprecedented motivation and soul searching experience.

At St. Cloud State University, I came across many other international students from many different countries, which is a wonderful experience. I think this school is one of the best for all the international students. I have been to another School at Minneapolis too, I felt like I didn't get enough help over there. But in this school, whenever I need help or I have any questions, Center of International student (C I S) is always there. This school provides excellent quality of education and besides that it gives a great opportunity to learn about other cultures too. Every semester there are many different kinds of cultural events where we can share our culture and tradition and try to be familiar with other cultures as well.
While attending SCSU whether we live on campus or off campus, the convenient bus facility makes us easy to go around . Other facilities that  SCSU has, is a very nice library. SCSU's library has a huge collection of books and other materials that will help us in our school life. The Library also provides a peaceful environment for us to study and the best thing, it also has a section which is open 24 hours to study and do our research on the internet. While talking about facilities, I would also like to mention the health center. The SCSU's health center is very convenient and affordable, most of the time their services are free, with our international student's health insurance.

All my professors in SCSU are very helpful and they always encouraged to be successful.  Before coming to the United States I was afraid of being far away from my family and my country but this school made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I am enjoying my student life  a lot now. This University made my college life more exciting than I ever imagined. Thanks to St. Cloud State University for letting me, to be a part of it.

My experience in Saint Cloud has been nothing but special. When I arrived to Saint Cloud State University I was greeted by other international students and Center for International Studies staff members. I had a very warm welcome and that continued throughout my stay till today.
The orientation staffs made us feel welcome and made it easy to understand what was going on. They knew we were probably experiencing some culture shock and feeling a bit homesick, and they were willing to work with us and be patient with us.
From the first day of classes to the very last minute of the last class professors are dedicated to make you successful in your academics. The different cultural and academic student organizations that you can get involved with help to make your stay more enjoyable and full of excitement. You can join any student organization and get involved with campus community.
I was very much involved with International students association and Ethiopian students association. I have benefited a lot from my involvement with different organizations. I have shared my cultural background with other members of the St Cloud state students and community and broadened my understanding of diversity. I have developed my leadership skills and communications skills.

I came to St Cloud State University as a transfer student from Normandale Community College. I chose SCSU because of it’s ABET credited Compute Science program. Coming from a community college I was very impressed by the resources, programs and activities that are available at SCSU. I appreciate how the library and computer labs are open for extended hours helping me work on my homework and projects till the wee hours of the morning. I have never had to wait to use a computer, one is always available in any one of numerous labs scattered through campus.

My professors have being very helpful and make extra efforts to make me a successful student. All my professors have taken time to sit with me during office hours and they email me back whenever I sent an inquiry. Outside my department the Center for International Studies, Administrative Office, Counseling Center, Women’s Center and Career Services Center just to name a few, stepped up far beyond my expectations to see to it that I succeed as student at SCSU.

I will forever be indebted to the SCSU community for how it has helped shape my life for success. Thanks to the diverse community at SCSU I have being exposed to wonderful cultural activities that have broadened my views of cultures around the world. I am on a mission to encourage students from my cultural background to come and study at SCSU as our numbers here right now are still very low.

St. Cloud State University is a great place to be for International Students.  SCSU has a variety of Major’s to choose from, which is very convenient for students who are undecided about their major. I chose to pursue my degree in Computer Science at SCSU and it has been a great experience.

I had an amazing first year experience in Lawrence Hall, got to meet people from all over the world, make new friends and learn about different cultures. I love meeting new people and living on Campus was an amazing experience for me.

SCSU’s tuition rate is very competitive, especially with the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship (ACSS) you get to pay the same tuition rate that the residents pay. The scholarship also helps with getting involved in various cultural programs and making new friends.

Before coming here, I applied to different universities in the US and got accepted, however I chose to go with SCSU and I am glad that I made that decision.

I am a Nursing student at St. Cloud State University. This is my senior year. I still remember when I first came to St. Cloud and what seemed so alien at that time is actually what I call home now. I was filled with lots of questions, anxious about the functioning of the society which is vastly different from the one in my hometown. To be honest the primary thing that brought me here was the affordable tuition fees and the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship that made it easier for my family to pay for my education. Also my two best friends were coming here for college. One of my friend’s sister was an Alumni from this college so I did have some ideas about what the life here would be like so I should say I was not completely alien to this place.

I realize now that Fall is the best time of the year here in Minnesota starting from late August till the end of October. The university welcomed us during our almost week long orientation and provided us lunch and guidelines as to the documentation and basically how to make life easier as college students. There were fellow seniors some from our country and fellow American friends who introduced us to the new lifestyles, helped us find apartments, roommates and some of whom gave us shelter till we found our own place.

After everything was settled, the academic advisors that we were assigned to help us register classes and that marked the beginning of our academic life at St. Cloud State University. I admit I was confused as I took general classes and classes in diversity as to choose a particular school as my major finally I chose Nursing after considering my field of interest i.e. science and also job availability in the tough job market. I have come quite far into this major and thanks to the awesome professors who guided me all along, my fellow classmates and friends I am almost there reaching my goal and this could not have been possible without all the help that I got all along. As a senior now, I assure everyone that St. Cloud University is  “A Place To Be” when it comes to affordable , quality education in a welcoming community.

Getting yourself adapted to a new environment away from home is a big thing especially when you are miles away from your loved ones. St. Cloud State and its ever welcoming community have made this adjustment easy for me. People with smiles are there to greet you wherever you are.

The thing that I like the most is that there is a lot of diversity here. Other international students who have left home gave me the feeling that I was not alone in all this. In addition to this, St. Cloud state offers a variety of cultural activities, where you can present your country to others or go learn about another country’s culture.

As for the academic part, the university has molded me into an all-rounded person by encouraging me to take classes from various fields. It takes a special place to feel homely when you are away from home and St. Cloud State has certainly given me that feeling.

It started with my admission into my major, Information Assurance.  The department has everything one need for the development of a student’s computer skills. The university provides us with a wide range of labs like network firewall labs that has everything one need to test their skills. Further, more the information systems club, and couple other computer clubs has given me a whole lot of motivation in my field. My professors are very friendly and they are also helping me to form a new club for the Information Assurance.

I should say library is one of my friends as I spend most of my time there in the university. It is so comfortable to sit and work there even for hours. It also helped me to get some of the resources I need to excel in my skills.

Apart from the academics, the cultural life in SCSU is quite good enough. All the clubs in the school are very active and the Atwood Memorial, considered the cultural hub in the school has something to do anytime I go there. The banks available here is quite handy and made things even more easy for me. I spend my evenings there at Atwood by hanging out with friends at the quarry, go bowling, watch movies and ya even sleep in those comfortable couches in the lobby sometimes. The SCSU also provides cultural scholarships for participating in the ACSS events. The best part is, these ACSS events are a whole lot of fun. That is you have fun and the school gives you scholarship, which is so cool.

The Hallenbeck hall is my next favourite place to go after Atwood in SCSU. It has got all the sports and outdoor activities in it. I play racquet ball, go to wall climbing sometimes, and the GYM which is the best in town, I really like the idea of massage center in the Hallenbeck Hall. It has got a whole lot of comforts and activities to do in one roof.

I would definitely suggest anyone to choose Saint Cloud State University.

Being an undergraduate student in Saint Cloud State University has always been great for me. I love the cultural nights organized by students from various different countries, where we can learn the true culture all around the world, taste their cuisine and enjoy their performance. As a Malaysian, I have helped organizing the Malaysian Night, which we were given the chance to introduce our home country, Malaysia. Throughout the work we have done to make Malaysian Night successful, a lot of students from other countries and Saint Cloud provided help. It is the great interactions between students that make me feel like home, even though I am actually thousand miles away from home.

As a physics-majored-student, I am grateful that we have helpful professors in Physics and Astronomy Department. Although Physics major has not been a popular major in SCSU but we are equipped with useful equipment that makes my undergraduate study interesting. We even have planetarium nights every semester for free, that could let students or non-students a new experience to astronomy.

In a nutshell, SCSU might not be a very big campus, but that makes it better! Because we could reach every corner of SCSU by foot and do not need to waste time on transportation around the campus.

I was in a community college doing my generals and at the same time deciding on a school on transferring to so as to finish my four year degree. SCSU seemed like the best fit as it was cheaper than most schools and its business school was internationally accredited. I am glad I made that decision to transfer here because I have never had a dull moment here in St. Cloud state.

The people are great and I met some of the best teachers that have had an impact on my life. The teachers try their best to make sure you understand the subjects and making sure your time in class is worthwhile.  SCSU in my opinion is one of the best schools for International students because it does everything in their power to make a student feel at home. By offering cultural cafes and cultural nights, one is also able to experience the different cultures of the international students here in St. Cloud.

What I love most about the school are the different ways you can get involved in different campus clubs and activities. And I can assure you that you would definitely find a club or activity of your interest that you would definitely love to get involved with, and in the process get to meet great people and make longtime friends. I am a living testimony to this as I have made great friends while being involved in different clubs.

I have really had a great time here in St. Cloud State, and that was one of the reasons to pursue my master’s program here after completing my bachelor’s degree.

Choosing St. Cloud State University was one of the best decisions that I have ever made in my life. St. Cloud State is a wonderful campus. The thing that I like about this university the most is that we have one of the best libraries in Minnesota. The library is a great resource center.

Professors here at St. Cloud are very helpful. The class room environment is perfect. Studying at St. Cloud State campus is a whole new experience for me.

As I am from Pakistan and in Pakistan we eat spicy food. Over here in US that is not the case. The dining service offered by St. Cloud State University offers the option of submitting your recipe to them and they will make your food as per your demand.

St. Cloud State offers ACSS scholarship which decreases your tuition fee to instate tuition fee. This is one of the reasons I chose this university.

I will ask all International students who are reading this right now to choose St. Cloud State University for their higher studies as it is a wonderful place and if you choose to come here don't forget to stay in Lawrence Hall.

I have always wanted to follow my postgraduate higher studies in USA since it has the best standard in the world when it comes to science majors. I consider myself really fortunate to get admitted to MS Computer Science program in St Cloud State University. In addition I was fortunate enough to be aided by graduate assistantship which really helped me to cover all the living expenses in US. In addition the professors in the department assisted and supported me a lot during my academic activities which ultimately helped me to achieve my objectives. In addition I worked as a teaching assistant and that gave me opportunity to interact and teach students which I always enjoyed doing. It really helped me in improving my communication and people skills which could be very handy in my future assignments.  Currently I’m in my final semester of studies and about to be graduated.

The good thing about SCSU is the opportunity and encouragement given to student to participate not only in academic activities but also in extracurricular activities such as cultural nights, sports etc. Coming from a Asian country with limited exposure to the world, these activities really helped me to blend with other students from US and many other countries. It also provided an opportunity to introduce and promote traditions, activities in our cultures as well. In retrospect I would say the 2 years that I spent in SCSU has been a great learning curve and I’m proud to be graduated from St Cloud State University.

Getting a good education in a foreign country is a dream for any Africans. And SCSU is one of the biggest colleges to provide good education in any major. I just finished learning English in IEC (Intensive English Center) which is a branch of SCSU. In fact I am a freshman in Business information system and all my classes are going well with amazing and professional instructors.

SCSU is way different from any other university that I have been before. Everything is computerized and that make the communication easier between instructors and students. Moreover, the education system is so efficient that you acquire knowledge so rapidly. Equally important, the study here is mostly based on homework, quiz and tests. So this type of education just gets you more responsible and better ability of learning.

Plus, the cultural activities are so fun. Every week a cultural activity is held on campus. So that keeps students more in touch and more open-minded.  Those cultural activities make you learn more about other countries custom, culture and people become friendlier.

On the whole, SCSU responds to all my expectations. The college is well structured and organized therefore many thing are kind of easy to figure out. It makes student’s life easier.

I have performed my primary and secondary education in Senegal within a couple of institutions where the main language of education is French. After I have graduated from high school, I have decided to pursue my college education in an American institution. This decision lead me to an American university in Senegal named Suffolk University Dakar Campus. After two academic semesters, I have transfered to Saint Cloud State University.

At first, it was quite difficult for me to live and go to school at Saint Cloud State University. The relative reasons mainly concerned cultural shock, notably concerning the exclusive use of English language in class and in the society. Therefore, I had to spend a very significant time to learn the content of my courses and perform homework effectively. Moreover, socializing was developing gradually as I get better and more confident in speaking english. However, the St Cloud State University community and members have been of great help not only through the availability of professional and helpful Professors but also the existence of student organizations promoting the welfare of every student on campus, notably international students like me. Furthermore, the campus provides students with various academic resources with the availability of technological and academic equipments such as computers, places to study such as the Miller Center library, and various human resources.

The teaching in St Cloud State University is very good. Professors have a really good knowledge of their courses along with the aptitude to teach their classes. They are available for any of their students during class and also provide students with assistance during office hours. As far as I am concerned, some of my Professors have been not only helpful concerning my academic studies but also through their attempts to inspire me and other students concerning important subject in life like ethics and the importance of hard work.

I have participated in several ACSS activities. One concern Ethiopian Cultural Cafe which celebrates Ethiopian culture through ethiopian music, danse performances, food, and clothing. I have also been an active member of the French club, as well as for the African Student Association.

I strongly recommend St Cloud State University since I believe it is a college institution providing with good education, student support, and an interesting international experience with student coming from very different parts of the world. Moreover, the cost of education is relatively affordable.

Attending college in a foreign country is more than honey on the taste buds. Flavors make students' life more meaningful and exciting. SCSU provides us great platforms where we can experience all of them right here and right now.

Quietly located by the river Mississippi, which appears to be a fair young maiden rather an untamed horse downstream in the south, our campus is blessed with crystal clear sky and well established college setting. I love the nature and outdoor activities, especially canoeing and fishing. There are numerous pristine lakes scattered around the city of St. Cloud and some of them are right next to our campus. I jog every afternoon on the beautiful beaver trail by the Mississippi. People are so friendly here that you get greetings almost from all people you pass by, which is totally the opposite way around in most other places.

The city of St. Cloud offers all that a small urbanized town can offer. You will be impressed by the local restaurants - they are really good and cheap! Twin Cities metro is only one hour away and it's my favorite weekend destination for shopping, dining and clubbing (yes, I'm over 21).

Almost forget to mention that, unlike most other smaller cities, you don't need a car here to survive. Metro bus is free to all students and it's extremely convenient! Hertz, budgets and other car rental companies offer good discounts for SCSU students so that we can cut the car purchase budget off! Well, that's how I managed my trips and fun.

I believe the decision to attend St. Cloud State University has been the best decision of my life. One of the many reasons why St. Cloud State University was my number one choice was because of their nationally accredited business program. I am a current senior studying business management and I absolutely love all my classes and my teachers. St. Cloud State University has provided me with a sense of community and belonging.

One of the strongest assets of St. Cloud State University is the diverse student population which makes the student life experience even more powerful and global in nature. Students from over 80 countries are proud to attend St Cloud State University every year. The Center for International Studies is a great resource for international students. The advisors are very benevolent and are available whenever needed.

The fellow students are very kind and friendly. Every single student is proud to be a part of the student community and to call him/herself a Husky. There is something for everyone, from cultural events to Greek life, from academic organizations to sports clubs and intramural teams. Every student can thrive while being involved in what they love. My favorite events on campus are the cultural nights that are hosted by students who want to spread their national pride and traditional values via a series of events demonstrating the love and respect they have for their country. These events play a major role in educating other students about different cultures and also eliminating the negative stereotypes that they might hold.

Along with the co-curricular activities, the academic programs at St. Cloud State University are remarkable. The professors are very understanding and do everything in their power to make international students feel at home. The amazing city of St. Cloud plays an important role as well. Located in the heart of the state, St. Cloud is one of the most historically and artistically active cities in the nation. The beautiful sceneries and surrounding landmarks help make the city a wonderful place to live. Center for international studies offer numerous trips for international students to see the area as well.

I am very thankful for the opportunities that I have been given at SCSU and would highly encourage anyone to join the SCSU community and let the college days be the best days of your life.

It is exciting for me to be admitted by St. Cloud State University. This is the first semester for me to study in St. Cloud State University, everything is new for me. But the teachers are so kind and patient, the students are so enthusiastic. They give me selfless help, and it helps me really fit in the new country and new school. Now, I fell in love with everything here.

St. Cloud State University's education system is very different from than in my Chinese universities. It gives me more freedom to choose the things I am interested in, and it also helps me do more practices in class. For example, for my ESL 201, it is a class for listening and speaking. The teacher also gives us many discussions during class. On the one hand, it is a good way to practice speaking; on the other hand, it can help us learn more about our classmates and build friendship between classmates.

Another movement is from my writing teacher. We like to call her Miss B. She is an excellent professor. I indeed remembered the first time for our writing, because of the difference between Chinese writing and English writing; it was very hard for me to finish my paper on time. Instead of blaming me, she gives me extra help to my paper after class. Day by day, I make a big progress for my writing. Now, I enjoy this class and I enjoy writing.

I am lucky to be a member of St. Cloud State University. It gives me a stage to achieve my dream, and it also gives me a chance to enjoy the wonderful education experience.

After transferring two different universities I found St. Cloud State to be the best. It was the best move for me in my four years in the United States. Here the academic choices are so enriched it helps you find the right major for you. And if you ever feel lost the advisors and the career services are the best places to be. Moreover, the professors here are very amicable and they are available for you whenever you need them.

It’s not only about the studies the extra-curriculum activities are also so very pleasant, it helps you distress when you need a break from studies. I participate in the intramural soccer every semester it really relieves me from pressure. Another factor that I chose this school over other is because of the diversity factor. I am really happy that I will be graduating from here and so is my family.

If there’s one event in my life that I can safely say changed my world, it would be my experience of studying abroad here at SCSU. I have learned a lot of valuable lessons, many of which will never be replaced. Each class that I attend in SCSU teaches me a process of critically thinking and how to step out of the box. The professors here are always helpful and encourage me to make best use of their office hours. I never hesitate to go meet them and discuss my questions.

Also, the multiracial environment of SCSU enables me to meet lots of awesome friends and university staffs from all over the world. It’s so great that I can understand other cultures and share my values with my international friends. I’m graduating this summer, but everything here will always hold a special part in my heart!

After finishing my high school, I was confused about choosing a university in the U.S to apply. I tried to find a lot of information about schools but I wasn't sure which one is suitable for me. At that time, one of my friends mentioned me about Saint Cloud State University. I was told that St. Cloud State University is a big university with over 17,000 students from all over the world. It is a perfect community for not only native students but also international students, like me, to easily find a way to fit in. However, the thing that impressed me the most about SCSU was the Academic and Culture scholarship that SCSU willing to give to us - the international students. I decided to apply to SCSU and I never had to regret that I did.

My first impression about SCSU was the campus was very large. There are so many different departments building providing several of choices for me in choosing my majors. There are also many extracurricular activities and associations for students to get involve in. For over a year I have been here, I have joined many clubs and associations such as the International kitchen club, the Ping-Pong club, and the VSA. I also have gone to and enjoyed many cultures events, Side streets, and Atwood after Dark events. Those events and activities have given me endless fun, lessons and experiences that I will remember for life.

I choose SCSU because of the wonderful reputation it has created over the past years.  Coming from India and then getting into SCSU was not a very easy decision and the wait seemed too long. Destiny favored my decision and I was accepted into the university. Here I had the opportunity to fulfill my dreams. Now, it has been over a year I am here at SCSU and life has never been the same. I am always learning and enriching myself. I do feel I have grown as a person to learning new things and experimenting with new ideas.

Working and studying at the same time taught me a lot and also helped me to motivate myself and work on things that were my weakness. I am near to my dream of completing my degree and getting a job. It still feels like yesterday when I joined SCSU.  The best thing about SCSU is that the faculty is very motivating and very helpful. Moreover there is on campus job opportunities as well which a student can take advantage of. There are tons of amenities SCSU provides a student with. Definitely SCSU opens new door to a great future.

Coming to SCSU was very exciting for me. On reaching here, the weather and cultural shock was not welcoming. But thanks to the members of the CIS orientation team, these are very wonderful people that made my stay worthwhile. They were very accommodating and made me feel I was home. This psychological gesture helped me pull through my stay here. I say a big thank you to CIS officials.

Also my professors and classmates are very accommodating and made my pursue of a degree in Mass Communications achievable. Not to forget, every semester I participate in the ACSS activities where I met a lot of other international students which also made my stay here pleasant and that I didn’t really have to miss home. Finally, SCSU is a nice place and has made a positive impact in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity of being a part of this wonderful community

I am a student from Hunan China. I choose St. Cloud State University because it is a very nice place to study and have a very good education experience.  Why? There are two reasons. First, Saint Cloud is a very small town; it is very peaceful for students and it’s a good environment to study. Secondly, Saint Cloud has very professional academic study program that leads us to succeed.  The reason why I choose marketing major is that I really like to talk to people and help them with some problems.  Marketing major is also a very big department in Saint Cloud. There are a lot of resources that can help me to succeed in my major.

The only thing that makes it challenging for me is leaving and not having my family here.  That is very difficult for an international student to live alone abroad. Except this, I really love Saint Cloud State University a lot. I believe that choosing Saint Cloud State is one of my best decisions that I make in my life time.  There are also a lot of fun activities that we have here in Saint Cloud State University. My favorite one is cultural night. We have many kinds of cultural nights here. I really learned a lot from that. I just want to say: I love Saint Cloud State University.

I have found this university as one of the greatest multicultural university, where there are students from more than 30 countries. Since, I like making new friends, studying at this university gave me an excellent opportunity to make international friends.

One thing I cannot forget to address about SCSU is both the faculty and the staffs are very cooperative to help students no matter where and when you need. Particularly, Center for International Studies is one of the best departments, which is always seeking to provide help for its international students. Besides this, the cultural activities/programs conducted within the university are one of the salient features of this institution. This helps to exchange international culture within or outside the university community. Therefore, pursuing the education at SCSU has helped me build up my career both academically and culturally very strong.

Joining St. Cloud state has turned out to be a very good decision for me. It has been everything I expected and more. I have always thought that being an international student is a very difficult task but St. Cloud State has made it very easy for me and so many other students. It helps the international students in so many ways. From in-state tuition fees to job opportunities and so many other activities and personal development opportunities, SCSU really helped us. It has really made being an international student really easy and joyful because of its diversity and opportunities.

The student government bodies organize different programs and events which are very exciting and fun. NSA (Nepalese Student Association) organizes a Nepalese cultural event every semester and never fails to provide excitement. It always reminds me of home. Participating and attending these events are really one of the highlights of my semester. It not only helps show our culture to the society here but also helps remind the fellow Nepalese students of their culture and home.

SCSU has really been a very good experience. It has provided me with a very good college experience along with a good education. Sometimes I do miss home but I always remind myself that there could be no other place better than this for me and think to myself that SCSU has been a home away from my home.

I would feel happy to articulate about St. Cloud State University, one of my friends suggested me this university. The University is a student friendly campus with various major programs available. University has many facilities which help students in many ways. Bus transport to every student is free around the city. Miller center is one of the best libraries I have ever seen. Library has a policy of lending laptops to the students, which would be the greatest thing in a student’s point of view.

Choosing Engineering Management program in St. Cloud State University is the best choice I have ever made in my life. Students of Engineering Management gain a lot of exposure and have great career opportunities. Professors of SCSU have equipped me great knowledge in order to survive in the virtual world and challenge myself in each and every opportunity. Students here have many opportunities to work under their professors as assistants and there are many on-campus employment opportunities. The best part is that you can even work with a company as a part of your projects in the curriculum.

Center for International studies, CIS provides an opportunity to all the international students in attaining academic cultural sharing scholarship. I would sincerely suggest international students to come to St. Cloud State University for a better school with great opportunities.

While a few of my friends were paying thousands of dollars for their first semester in other states, I was paying the same amount for my whole academic year to receive a similar, high - quality academic learning experience. All my gratitude goes to the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship which allows International students to pay the in-state tuition rate.

In order to maintain the Academic and Cultural Sharing scholarship, I had to participate in at least two events where I had the chance to share and embrace my origins with others. Most importantly I was able to make a difference in the Saint Cloud State campus and the Saint Cloud community through my involvement in different cultural and social activities.

At SCSU, my professors armed me with a great amount of business and social knowledge to become assertive and intellectually-prepared in this challenging world – economy. Their expertise, flexibility, and support helped me to pursue my research interests and to span a broad range of careers possibilities.

The administrative staff are a great support system to the students. Make sure to acquaint yourself with the CIS staff because they are your go-to service staff.

Here are three pieces of advice I have for prospective or current students:

1) Go out of your comfort zone to be involved in campus life.

2) Try to make friends from any shape of life (SCSU is diverse in terms of its demography and social beliefs).

3) Especially, make sure to study hard just like you play hard!

SCSU has many pleasant surprises; so come here to find yours. Good luck!

Choosing where to study and what courses to enroll in are vital decisions in life and which make an enormous difference to our future. I chose St. Cloud State University because of the excellent early childhood education licensure program. The program is rich in theory and balanced through practical application, which prepares me to meet the demands and challenges of a dynamic teaching career. Besides the content knowledge and pedagogical coursework, the small class size with dedicated professors who have real-world experience creates an excellent and conducive learning environment for me.

Of course, university isn't all about study. It's also about making new friends, enjoying new experiences, and learning about other cultures.  I personally have benefited a lot from the International Friendship Program. The International Friendship Program is a friendship exchange between the local community and international students and scholars from SCSU. Becoming involved with the International Friendship Program (IFP) since 2009 has been wonderful and is probably one of the best things I decided to do during my studies in the United States. This program has paired me with a local family, who I see as part of my family now. We have been doing things together, from everyday activities such as grocery shopping, playing, and baking to special events such as Christmas programs, Easter celebrations and birthdays.

I could go on and on about my experience of being part of SCSU but it won't be realistic or relevant to you until you become part of the community. So, please wait no longer and apply to be part of our SCSU community.

I still remember how excited I was when I opened the admission letter from St. Cloud State University. As a second year graduate student in Communication Sciences and Disorders, I can testify that the same excitement remains today as strong as that moment. St. Cloud is a mid-size city with almost everything a college student would ever need; not to mention the campus is located right in the heart of the downtown area and along the Mighty Mississippi. You are guaranteed to fall in love with St. Cloud State whether you are a city goer or nature lover.

The education quality that my graduate program provides is top notch. Every class consists of about 12-15 students, which equals more discussion with my classmates and more attention from my professors. I believe the familial type of environment promotes better learning results. The Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic on campus has the most current resources and professional faculty who prepare me to be a successful clinician. What’s more, internship opportunities in all kinds of educational and medical settings are set up upon the completion of academic coursework.

I started to understand why people say, “The sky is the limit” after becoming one of the Huskies. Every day is an adventure. I enjoy the welcoming, the vibe, and the comfiness, not to mention the “Minnesota nice” here. Come experience it!

St. Cloud State University has proven to be a tradition of excellence and opportunity. As a scholar of the Fulbright Program, I cared about an academic environment in which I could engage, expose, and develop the best of my professional capacities. St. Cloud State University has offered and challenged me with professional workshop presentations, student research activities, newsletter articles, research projects with faculty, and so on. Just after a year, I could see myself growing significantly in the profession and research.

A friend of mine, who is taking his master program at a well-known university in the States said, “I can be proud of the name of my university because people around the world can easily recognize it. However, it is a waste of my time to be here since professors are crazily busy and do not care much of their teaching. Even worse, they are never available for me when I need help with studies out of class”. It’s been a satisfaction for me to work with the professors, especially the academic advisor at St. Cloud State University.

More than what I expected, the academic advisor is always available, devoted, and patient, supporting me both professionally and psychologically throughout the year. The excellent service and on-going care-taking of the Center for International Studies, which is not of less importance to the international students’ life, has smoothly accommodated all of my paper work procedures ever since I first arrived.

Well... This is my first semester here. This semester I think will be itself really different from the others for me. Because I am an exchange student from Pakistan and this is my first semester in St. Cloud, I am going to get new experiences and a fresh exposure among new people in a totally different environment and culture. I am already in love with St. Cloud so I am so excited to get ready for the upcoming events. I already joined two such organizations and I am going to join more during the Mainstreet events. To make this semester different I applied for a senate seat in the student government and I am already attending meetings of different student organizations.

I have a lot of opportunities here, better labs and better-equipped class rooms. These facilities are going to make my studies really easy and better. To make good use of all these opportunities in studies I registered the courses which can help me in my research. And I also selected a research project too, so that I may get maximum returns from the well-equipped labs here at SCSU.  Furthermore I am determined to get involved in volunteer activities and different organizations. Of course then I will have a chance to communicate and socialize better. And that's what I want. So this semester will be really different from the rest.

I will take part in recreational activities and different sports too. I have already made many good friends even in the initial days at St. Cloud.  I think I am going to have a memorable time here. And I am committed to make these moments memorable.

Inexpensive is the first reason why I chose SCSU among so many other colleges and universities in the United States. When accepted to SCSU, international students have the opportunity to receive the Academic and Cultural Sharing scholarship. Now that I am at SCSU, I also realize that SCSU is a great university that welcomes new students, especially international students.

I thought that college was a big environment and no one would have enough time for so many new students, but I have changed my mind. There are a lot of advisors who will help students anytime and anywhere, all I need to do is just ask questions. I used to be afraid to meet with professors and ask them questions but once I did, I realized that professors would try their best to help their students.

On the other hand, there are hundreds of organizations and clubs that students can attend to make friends and maintain the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship. I’m currently in an organization which is my country’s cultural organization and there are a lot of interesting activities to do. I’m so glad to be a member of the SCSU community.

As a Chinese Proverb states, “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.” Saint Cloud State is all about involvement, not only from a classroom standpoint but also from other activities. Their extra-curricular activities are very diverse and offer a quality experience. Every day there is something going on from cultural events that broaden students’ cultural exposure, to career fairs, guest speakers, and mock interviews which prepare students to be marketable potential employees.

The professors here offer guidance and empower you, as the student, to be the master of your full learning experience. This has been extremely beneficial for me as I feel that my mind has been expanded. All these privileges are offered at an unbelievable and affordable price. International students are automatically awarded a cultural and sharing scholarship that enables them to only pay the instate tuition. That is a big money saver!

On top of that benefit, you get to share your culture through cultural cafes and learn from other ones as well. During a cultural café students introduce their cultural background by inviting people to share in their native food. Such activities make you feel appreciated and integrated in the community. No matter what you are interested in, Saint Cloud State University is a great place to gain new experiences and enhance your old ones.

Mostly the final projects are funded by companies outside SCSU. Working with real employers during your school year always gives you much confidence when you graduate and look for jobs. The new ISELF Engineering Department will have all the equipment and students will be able to experience more hands-on projects than before.

There are clubs for Engineering students and different clubs and societies for different schools. All these clubs work together for the STEM events. First thing I want to say is that SCSU is a Perfect Place to be a student! Now I’ll explain why.

I’m an exchange student. I won the U.S. Department of State Scholarship and came to St. Cloud State to study International Relations and be a Cultural Ambassador of my homeland, Russia. This is my first time in the United States and I’m happy that I came to St. Cloud.

St. Cloud State offers lots of opportunities for professional and personal growth. My major is International Relations. All the classes I take here fully correspond to my goals and interests. The Latin American Government course gives me a better understanding of the Latin World, the countries of my third studied language, Spanish. I take Intermediate Spanish here as well. After three months of studying I feel a significant progress in mastering this magic language.

My passion is music.  I play the clarinet. At SCSU I found a perfect chance to improve my music skills through pleasure – the Campus Band! Plus I’m not indifferent to current environmental problems. My Environmental Politics class helps me to find better ways to protect our nature.

Besides studies, St. Cloud State is a multicultural home for more than 80 countries of the world! All people around me are so different because of various cultures… This diversity is a real example of tolerance and friendship of Nations. On the other hand all five continents have one thing in common - this wonderful place called St. Cloud State! We are ONE!

There are other fun activities at Saint Cloud State University like different cultural programs where you can explore and get the knowledge of other cultures, Atwood Afterdark, and lot of other things. Saint Cloud State University is simply the place where you can learn, play, enjoy, and make yourself prepared for the bright future. That makes me proud of my decision.

At first i was skeptical about what St. Cloud State could offer me in terms of academic research for my major and extracurricular activities. My adviser was extremely helpful in leading me to the right path on selecting a major and the instructors were allies in time of help. Even though their culture is way different from where i am from, it was easy for me to pick up with caring friends surrounding me.

My first semester was filled with trying out different organizations to see if i was interested in any of them. As it turned out, i was interested in all of them and became involved in over seven different organizations and volunteered for over 30 different activities and groups. There is not a dull day in the life outside of class.

Ever since I was a child, my dream was to study at an American University. Having the opportunity to study at St. Cloud State University has been the richest and most rewarding education experience. Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science was challenging, challenging enough to push me forward to another big step in my career.  I am now pursuing my master’s degree in Information Assurance here at St. Cloud State University.

Flexibility over the course choices along with approachable and helping personalities of professors and staff have made this University worthwhile and a great learning atmosphere for me. I was initially intimidated by the level of excellence demanded of the graduate students at St. Cloud State; however I have come to realize that this kind of dedication on behalf of the faculty is invaluable to students. I am thoroughly convinced that they are indeed the great foundation of graduate education at St. Cloud State University.

Moreover, living on a diverse campus with friendly students from around the world made St. Cloud State University a true home-away-from-home living environment.

My ambition is to return to my country after graduation with the knowledge I have gained and work for the betterment of Kosovo and my countrymen.

I chose St. Cloud State University’s Mass Communications graduate program to help me achieve my academic and professional goals. I graduated from the Intensive English Center at SCSU which greatly improved my English language skills. This has given me a great opportunity to build a global perspective, acquire academic success, and appreciate culture from different countries. Although this is my first semester at SCSU, I have been given many opportunities to discuss my academic goals with my classmates and professors.

Every day I would take the bus from my apartment to the university. As the bus passed through the Mississippi River, the surface of the river was covered in pure, white snow while the snow-covered trees looked like gingersnaps. This image portrays one of the most beautiful landscape paintings in the world and it is very much appreciated.

By enjoying the bitter cold and staying positive is the best way to experience life at St. Cloud State University. I have participated in many meaningful cultural trips, like visiting the ice sculpture, learning how to make maple syrup, and ice skating for the first time. I also participated in cultural nights and a variety of activities on campus. It’s such an unforgettable experience to live in St. Cloud.

Now that I am at St. Cloud State University, I always keep my passion to make more friends. Actually, having an open-minded attitude to enjoy a whole new world, you can explore more than you expected before. So come and join our big family!

Attending St. Cloud State University was one of the best choices in my life. As an electrical engineering student in the undergraduate program, my passion toward both engineering and management studies was fulfilled by taking the master’s program in Engineering Management. The faculty here is very friendly and helpful in dealing with the courses and guiding me toward a better future.

St. Cloud State has helped me a lot with its programs and events by providing a bridge which leads to different cultures of the people. Participating in the programs or events conducted by University Programming Board (UPB) like After Dark will really take you to the different world which gives you relief from stress.  There may be lot of techniques for stress relief but as one will be stressed with the academics in the school, you can get the relief in the same school area by the activities performed in the school campus.

At last I can say that choosing St. Cloud State will be one of the best decisions I have made.

Saint Cloud State University offers broad programs of studies in different areas from bachelors to graduate levels. It’s fascinating how the professors are willing to help me in my academic pursuits. I have worked with an applied genomic research group and a microbiology research group.  Both have helped me learn cutting edge research in various fields of science.

My participation in the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship has expanded my network of friends and has led to a better understanding of various cultures around the world while at SCSU. As the elected president of the Little Falls Friends group for the school year 2011 through 2012, my experience through interactions with various cultures and activities has led to an in-depth understanding of the global diversity we have at SCSU.

The moment I decided to attend St. Cloud State was the moment that changed my life! I used to be a shy and totally unconfident girl. I came to St. Cloud State with some doubts of how to get used to the new life and make friends. I also heard a lot about the difficulties of college life which caused me to have more doubts about my ability to get through this tough four years. However, since coming here my whole perspective has changed.

The friendliness of people and the amazing education which St. Cloud State provided to me has motivated me to push myself out here and try to become a part of the St. Cloud State community. I have joined a lot of excellent activities and was able to join every social activity. These activities have given me a chance to make friends from all over the world, while pursuing a wonderful education. This has just opened up a whole new me!

I worked as a Software Engineer for three years then I decided I wanted to do something else; I wanted to pursue my master’s degree in Computer Science. After careful consideration and valuable suggestions from my friends, I zeroed in on SCSU. In the beginning I was a bit hesitant, but after the first week in St. Cloud, I really enjoyed the diverse student body at SCSU. Being at SCSU, I never felt I was away from home. Here at SCSU you meet awesome people and you learn a lot about yourself.

The professors here are fantastic. They care and know what they're teaching about; they are leaders in their fields. Social life at SCSU is pretty good. At SCSU you’ll find that there are clubs and organizations of all sorts, for people from different cultures, traditions, and countries. My favorite thing about SCSU is the incredible international population here.

I chose to attend St. Cloud State because I know my degree from SCSU will guide me into my future goals. SCSU is a place where you get a quality education at a low cost. My sincere advice to someone considering SCSU would be, GO FOR IT! It will probably be one of the best decisions that you’ll ever make in your life!

I attended a small private college first and then transferred to St. Cloud State University. At first, I was hesitant about SCSU being the right University for me, as I have never experienced being on a big campus. However, my experience at SCSU turned out to be a pleasant one. I liked the environment and the people are so welcoming and nice. Furthermore, SCSU is a diverse campus, and for this reason, I’ve not only had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, but make true friendships with them. I have learned so much of each of my friends’ culture as well as some words in their languages.

Finally, I wanted to be more involved in the SCSU community; therefore, I decided to be a Community Advisor. As a CA, I have helped students living in the Residential Life housing, developed a community among them and worked together toward common goals. It has greatly helped me to grow as a person as well as improved my leadership skills. SCSU has definitely made my college experience worth it!

I have been living in St. Cloud since 2008, as I attended my senior year at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Originally I was supposed to stay in the United States for one year only, but upon having the chance to carry out my long-time dream of going to college in this country, I then managed the procedures to study at SCSU.

Here I found an incredible environment, with people from different nations and cultures. I believe this institution and the state have a lot to gain by stimulating international students to study here through initiatives such as the ACSS. In turn, we can contribute with our own experiences in order to form a more pluralistic community, improving the sense of understanding from both sides in this rich exchange of cultural views.

Through this program I had the chance to work as a Spanish tutor on campus and as a volunteer tutor at Apollo High School, both practices that have taught me a lot. Moreover, the frequent contact with other international students and events like Cultural Nights and Cafes only added to change negative stereotypes I used to hold against certain cultures, as well as being a significant part to my degree of International Relations. Furthermore, by choosing to study History, I am able to learn the past of this country counted by its citizens, taking advantage of the vast array of primary sources available here; and get to know the many cultural, political, social, economic, and external factors that came together to build this magnificent nation.

Perhaps extending my one-year stay into a five-year one turned out to be the best choice I have ever made. It sure is a privilege to spend important years of my life in this city, experience the hospitality of the people, eat the delicious typical foods, learn the traditions, feel the awesome weather (I truly find it great, I come from a very hot place!), and last but definitely not least, enjoy the green and peaceful sceneries of beautiful Minnesota.

I chose to attend St. Cloud State University my senior year in High School. The reason that attracted me to SCSU was that I had heard from multiple people how good their business program was. What I like about SCSU is that it is a great community that has many events going on and everyone is proud to be a Husky. I also like the way that there are a lot of events that are held by international students to teach others about their cultures and open others’ minds about other countries in the world. SCSU has a very helpful Center for International Studies office. I have had many of my own questions answered by them. SCSU also has groups for almost every major and it is important to become involved with as many activities as possible for that specific major. There are many opportunities to grow as a person, find yourself and realize what it is you want to do for the rest of your life. The advisors that I have had helped me to choose the classes that were going to help me the most to achieve the future job that I have chosen.

I am very thankful that I chose to attend St. Cloud State. I have learned so much about my field of study, myself, and about a lot of topics that have made me a better, more knowledgeable person. The people at SCSU are very friendly and I have met many people that I will know for the rest of my life and who have made an impact on my life.

I decided to go to college in the States after my friend, who is also a student at SCSU, told me about staying in the States after an exchange year in High School. I looked for different schools, St. Cloud State seemed like a great option and I haven't been disappointed since. The school offers great programs, professors who are willing to help you with your problems, and lots of activities around campus.

The ACSS gives international students the same cost per credit as the resident students get. In order to get the scholarship you will have to do two different cultural sharing activities each semester. The Center for International Studies provides lots of activities for students to complete. You will also have to take at least 12 credits per semester and for undergraduate, like myself, the GPA must stay at 2.50 or higher.

Personally I like to both play and watch hockey.  St. Cloud State offers a Division 1 program to watch, and open hockey every weekday for free with your student ID. The activities aren't limited to only hockey. On campus they have a fitness center, pool, football field, and gym with running track. There are lots of cultural and entertainment things for those who aren't so much into sports. Different speakers, concerts, and a weekly movie will keep you entertained.

Currently I'm a member of a co-ed business fraternity and I have met great people through that. Networking is one of the key elements in a job hunt today, but it's also a great way to meet people. For example I met one of my current roommates while playing open hockey. Living in the dorms is also a great way to meet new people.

When I go back home people wonder how I can be away from my family and friends from there. My answer is simple. Skype helps with staying in touch with the family and you will find new friends on campus. I haven't regretted my choice to come to St. Cloud State.

Attending St. Cloud State University is the best decision I have ever made. I always wanted to study in the field of business with human resources. I felt that this field would give me an opportunity to meet people with diverse backgrounds since the United States has a more diverse population. This was made possible since SCSU has a very diverse culture of students. SCSU opened me to wide areas of opportunities.

Being a Community Advisor in a residential hall was a most wonderful thing which happened to me in SCSU. By this I was able to interact with students from diverse populations and build greater living communities while interacting with my professors too to keep up with my grades. Although I am originally from Sri Lanka, I have performed in the India Night of 2010 and became involved in many other cultural organizations. Be a part of SCSU, I assure you, you would not regret it!!

Let’s see, how should I describe the experience I am having here in one word? "Amazing.” Yes, winters are very cold and when that gust of cold wind hits your face, you feel like you should have gone to a nice and warm place, but who cares about something small like that when you could experience something great.  I still remember the first day here; I was excited, happy and a bit nervous because I was going to a class 8000 miles away from home for the first time. But everything changed when I entered my first class, I think it was a calculus class; the professor was very kind, helpful and understanding. She taught everything nicely and helped me throughout the whole semester. The point is that the professors of St Cloud State are as good as any other university. They provide the high quality education that anyone would want with great effort and determination. They also have helped me through a lot, when I was confused about what to do, they gave me advice and when I wanted to change my major they encouraged me to do what I really wanted.

From my experience here I can say that St Cloud State University is a great place to study especially for international students. The place is nice and quiet, people are very friendly and the staff are very helpful, especially staff from the Center of International Studies.  They will help you with whatever problems or questions you have. For an international student, St Cloud State is a great choice because of the huge number of international students you will find here and the opportunities the university provides for them. You have literally hundreds of majors that you can choose; from computer science to business. Then, you have the ACSS scholarship they provide, especially designed for international students. It is very helpful. And then you will find numbers of different cultural & non-cultural organizations.  You can join the organization of your liking and participate in the events that they organize. This will help you broaden your skills as a leader, coordinator or will give you just plain experience which might assist you later in your career. Rather than me talking and you reading this, just come up here and experience everything by yourself!
