**The deadlines indicated are mail postmark dates. This means the complete application and acceptable supporting documents need to be mailed on or before this date.

  • $20.00 Application Fee - In the form of a Bank Draft, Check, Money Order or online application fee payment. Make payment to St. Cloud State University. Do not send cash in the mail.  No fee waivers are given under any circumstances.
  • To be qualified for the Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship, submit the following application at the time of your application for admission. Download Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship Application.
  • Secondary school grade reports or mark sheets indicating date of graduation or provide an official graduation diploma or leaving school certificate. (Special requirements for Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria). All reports and certificates must be certified with official school stamp or seal and by signed by the principal. (If reports are not in English they must be accompanied by a certified literal translation.)
  • Transcripts of any college, university or higher education beyond secondary school. Must be certified with official school stamp or seal, and signed by school registrar. Transcripts can also be stamped and signed by the Ministry of Education or a Fulbright Center.  (If reports are not in English they must be accompanied by a certified literal translation.) 
    • Transcript return:  If you are not able to get additional copies certified of your transcripts and need to have your original transcript returned you must send a self-addressed paid express envelope from DHL, Federal Express or a similar agency, otherwise the documents will be held in our records office.
  • Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or one of the additional English Proficiency options. Scores must be received directly from the testing agency to be considered official. It will typically take 4 weeks for test results to reach our office from ETS once you have made the request. The TOEFL code for St. Cloud State University is 6679.
  • Optional Express fee of $100.00 US dollars – to receive your I-20 and acceptance packet through Federal Express.
  • Financial documentation required with the International Undergraduate Application Financial section. Acceptable documents must show the following:
    • Bank statement on bank letterhead, stamped and certified by bank in original stamp or seal.
    • Date on bank statement needs to be within three (3) months of application date.
    • US $20,000 is the minimum amount that must be shown on statement. Can appear in local currency as long as equal or greater than $20,000 USD.
    • If you have a US sponsor:  The affidavit of support from U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident with original sponsor signature, original notary public stamp and signature, and any supporting documents required on the form provided by the U.S. INS i-134


    Examples of documents NOT ACCEPTED at SCSU for admission:

    • Photocopies or faxed documents are not accepted.
    • Bank statements older than three (3) months at the time of application are not accepted.
    • Letters indicating enough funds are available without listing actual amount available in bank are not accepted.
    • Documents showing fixed assets such as land, equipment, real estate are not accepted.
    • Notarized copies without official, original bank stamp, seal and signature are not accepted.
    • Affidavits of support from non-US citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents are not accepted.

Application Review and Notification of Application Status

  • If you have questions about the status of your application, please e-mail us at world2scsu@stcloudstate.edu . In order to serve you better, we ask that you refrain from calling or having someone stop by our office on your behalf to inquire about your application. E-mail questions will be answered in the order they are received with an approximate wait time of 2-3 days. Calls and walk-in requests to inquire about an applicant's status will not be accepted.
  • Application review will begin on a rolling basis as first-come/first-serve based on the Application deadline postmark date.
  • You will be notified by email (if you have provided an email address) if we are missing any documents, otherwise a letter will be mailed to you.
  • Expect complete application decisions for Admission six to eight weeks after the application is complete.
  • Be sure to check the email account provided on your application form and notify us if your email has changed. Mail takes much longer than email and we want to notify you in a timely manner.
  • If your application is complete and you are accepted, you will receive an I-20 (for F-1) or a DS-2019 (for J-1) and an acceptance letter.
