Exchange Student Checklist

  1. Contact your campus exchange student coordinator to discuss selection process and cost of the program. Currently, the following schools have an active agreement with St. Cloud State:

  2. Complete the Exchange Student Application Form.
  3. Your exchange student coordinator should submit the following to St. Cloud State University. (Copies of these documents are acceptable if provided directly by a university official.) 
    • A certified, English-translated transcript.
    • A certified, English-translated financial document showing the equivalent of the expenses necessary as indicated by agreement. 
    • Original or copy of TOEFL report (dated within the last two years) showing a score of 500~549 (paper-based) or 61 (iBT), with subscores not below 15 for reading, writing, and listening. With these scores there is then a requirement to (1) take the on-campus ESL placement tests upon arrival at SCSU, and (2) take college ESL courses if the student does not pass the ESL placement tests.
    • OR
    • Require a TOEFL score of 550 or higher (paper-based) or 80 (iBT), with subscores not below 17 for reading, writing, and listening with no further requirement to take ESL placement tests or college ESL courses.
    • SCSU does NOT accept the TOEFL ITP scores. ETS clearly states that TOEFL ITP scores are for internal use only and should NOT be used for admission purposes.
