IACUC Review of Protocol Process:

  • Principal investigator submits completed IACUC protocol for review, following submission deadline
  • IACUC Administrator contacts veterinarian and animal facility manager for initial review (min. 1 week review time)
  • IACUC Administrator provides initial review feedback to principal investigator who responds to changes either via email or an updated protocol
  • IACUC Administrator contacts IACUC members for review of revised protocol (min. 1 week review time)
  • IACUC Administrator provides committee feedback to principal investigator who responds to changes either via email or an updated protocol
  • IACUC Administrator submits revised protocol to IACUC members for review (min. 1 week review time)
  • Full IACUC review of protocol at next meeting

If you are contemplating a project involving invertebrates, complete and submit the IACUC Determination of Coverage for Invertebrate Animals for determination of whether specific animals/projects fall under the purview of the IACUC. Note the IACUC and IACUC Institutional Official are responsible for making the determination.
