MN Management and Budget’s State Employee Group Insurance Plan (SEGIP) will be sponsoring an open enrollment session on:
Friday, October 19, 1:00 p.m., in the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom
Along with SEGIP’s insurance team, representatives from the various insurance carriers will available to answer questions. The SEGIP Report will be mailed to your home mid-October. This will be your only notice from MMB regarding open enrollment.
SEGIP Open Enrollment 2013 Summary
The annual Open Enrollment period is November 1-14, 2012
· Open Enrollment is your opportunity to change your benefits election for 2013.
· If you wish to participate in the pre-tax accounts, you must enroll every year, even if you are currently participating.
· You must complete the health assessment and agree to a follow-up call by a health coach to receive the lower office visit copayment in the Advantage Health Plan.
· If you do not want to make changes to your health, dental and optional coverages, you do not have to re-enroll.
What’s Open in 2013
Health Insurance
Employees may change their insurance carrier. You may add or cancel family coverage.
Dental Insurance (special off-cycle offering)
Employees may change their insurance carrier. You may add or cancel family coverage. If you do not want dental coverage, you can waive the coverage.
Life Insurance
Employees and spouses without any optional life insurance may enroll for $5,000 in coverage without evidence of insurability. Employees and spouses currently enrolled in optional life insurance may obtain a minimum amount of coverage without evidence of insurability.

Long-Term Disability
Employees may enroll in or increase their amount of coverage.
Manager’s Income Protection Plan
Managers may elect to reduce the elimination period by one 30-day unit.
Pre-Tax Accounts
Employees may enroll in the Medical/Dental Expense Account, Dependent Care Expense Account or Transit Expense Accounts. MDEA will be limited to a maximum of $2,500. MDEA and DCEA have a $100 minimum and the TEA have a $50 minimum.
Health Assessment
Employees who take the health assessment and agree to a follow-up call by a health coach, will receive the lower office visit copay for themselves and family.
What’s New in 2013
Rates
Medical premiums will increase by 12.5%. Dental premiums will remain the same. Optional Life premiums will remain the same. Disability Plans will experience a slight decrease.
Confirmation Statement
SEGIP will discontinue mailing a paper statement. An electronic confirmation page will display directly after accepting the benefit changes. The confirmation statement will be electronically date and time stamped. Please print a copy of the confirmation statement for your records.
Short term disability and long term care are not open for enrollment. You may apply with evidence of insurability. Contact Human Resources for enrollment materials.
