The Associate Director of Education Abroad is in the Academic Affairs unit under the Center for International Affairs department.
Date of appointment:  July 1, 2014


The Associate Director of Education Abroad is responsible for advising education abroad participants, training and supervision of Education Abroad Advisor and approximately six student workers to promote, market, and assess education abroad programs, works with risk/crisis management. This position works with faculty directors on details of faculty-led programs. This position manages approximately 15 SCSU education abroad programs. Also responsible for the development and management of third party providers.

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of four years of full time work experience with demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of education abroad program advising and administration, or international education experience.
  • One semester, or two or more short-term abroad experience/s for academic credit;
  • Demonstrated program management and administrative skills, including marketing, program evaluation, budgeting, supervision, risk/crisis management experience;
  • Program marketing and recruitment skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
  • Evidence of demonstrated ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated college/university student advising experience;
  • Current valid passport or legally eligible to attain one
  • Experience establishing and maintaining professional networks with campus, local, national and international persons and organizations;
  • Demonstrated experience in education abroad program assessment;
  • Experience with StudioAbroad management and use 
  • Experience with working on F-1/J-1 Regulations.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (added 4/8/14) in order to be a DSO/ARO
