Filling a Fixed Term MSUAASF Vacancy
A fixed term appointment is for a limited period of time, normally 12 months or less. The President may extend it for an additional 12 months.
- Request to Hire Approval Form completed, signed and submitted to HR.
- Verify that the Position Description is current. If it needs to be updated, then submit a new MSUAASF Position Description to HR in paper form and electronically to humanresources@stcloudstate.edu
- New position:
- Complete the following and submit to HR with Request to Hire

- MSUAASF Position Description (also send this form electronically to humanresources@stcloudstate.edu)
- MSUAASF Position Analysis Questionnaire
- Current Organizational Chart
- Memo from supervisor that includes:
- Why was the position created?
- Where did the job duties come from?
- Supervisor is notified of Request to Hire approval by HR
- Campus Evaluation Committee evaluates and recommends range to Office of the Chancellor
- Office of the Chancellor makes final range determination
- Receive notice of range approval from HR
- Complete the following and submit to HR with Request to Hire

- After receiving approval to hire (and range placement, if a new position), contact the Affirmative Action Office. You can find the Guide to Administrative Searches and links to forms at the Office of Affirmative Action website www.stcloudstate.edu/affirmative action/search. A search packet will also be provided by the Office of Affirmative Action.
- Final candidate chosen
- Have the candidate complete the Unclassified Personnel Application Form
- Contact the Asst. HR DIrector or HR Director and provide the completed Unclassified Personnel Application Form and resume for the candidate.
- HR will determine the creditable experience of the candidate and recommend a starting salary offer.
- MSUAASF Employment Request Form is submitted to HR with transcripts, reference letters, Unclassified Personnel Application Form and the notice of vacancy.
