Process for Filling Existing Classified Positions

When a classified position becomes vacant, Human Resources meets with the supervisor to inform them of the hiring procedures. Those procedures are as follows:

  • Complete “Request To Hire Approval Form"
  • Position is posted as required by the respective bargaining agreement
  • Interview by seniority if there are bidders
  • If there are no bidders, Human Resources completes “Vacancy Builder” to get list of applicants
  • Applicants’ resumes will be reviewed by interview committee
  • A reasonable number of applicants will be selected for interviews
  • Selection will be made to hire the most qualified candidate
  • New employee will be scheduled to meet with the HR staff to complete the necessary paperwork
