The mission of the Office of Human Resources is to support all university units and personnel in the effective utilization of human resources by providing leadership and high quality specialized services to all campus constituents. These services will contribute to the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of a diverse workforce. As it assures the compliance with state and federal regulations and MnSCU policies, the human resources staff will deliver effective and efficient services to the entire campus community. The human resources staff will support university areas in clarifying human resources issues and sharpening their focus so they may more fully enrich programs and provide outstanding services to students. The Office of Human Resources accepts a leadership role, assisting the campus community, by administering a comprehensive education and training program for recruitment and retention of a highly developed workforce. The Office of Human Resources is a strategic partner and strives to make advances in user friendly client services. The university employs approximately 1,600 faculty and staff in a collective bargaining environment.
Assistant Director for Classified Employment
Direct the personnel programs for classified employees at the university including: classification, compensation, and collective bargaining agreement administration for classified staff.
Assistant Director for Unclassified Employment
Direct the personnel programs for unclassified employees at the university including: classification, compensation, and collective bargaining agreement administration for unclassified staff.
Maintain the computerized personnel system, classified seniority roster, process appointments for payroll, salary increases, performance evaluations, and provide administrative and technical assistance concerning classified employees to the Assistant Director of Human Resources.
Maintain the computerized personnel system; process unclassified appointments and unclassified change forms; and process computer generated reports including seniority rosters.
Designated Department Insurance Representative (DDIR). Provide assistance in the administration of insurance benefits, pre-tax benefits, workers compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short & long term disability, classified retirement, and classified job postings.
Assist in the appointment processing for unclassified employees (IFO, MSUAASF, and MnSCU Administrators), process leave accrual for unclassified employees, and process employment verifications for all employees.
Manages the daily operations of the Human Resources office, which includes eight staff members and four work study students. Provides administrative assistance to the director and staff. Administers the tuition waiver program and position description tracking system. Processes student payroll,address changes, and provides administrative and technical assistance concerning temporary employees.
Employee Development Specialist
Develop and implement recruitment strategies as well as employee training and development programs that facilitate employee engagement, organizational success, and institutional compliance.
