We have a strong interest in supporting the efforts of K-12 and college instructors who are integrating health and sport science lab experiences into their classrooms. Towards this end, we have conducted numerous heart dissection labs in collaboration with elementary school science teachers. We also routinely share our laboratory procedures/curriculum materials with high school and college instructors. Since the summer of 2003 we have been involved in an ongoing grant project that assists junior and senior high school science, health and physical education teachers in developing and implementing new health related laboratory experiences for their students. This has been expanded to offer Senior to Sophomore credit for PESS 122 (Fitness and Wellness) to school districts interested in offering such an option to their students.
Should you and/or your colleagues be interested in tapping into the Kinesiology Faculty for curricular ideas, feel free to contact us.
