Internship in Community Health
The Purpose of the Community Health Internship
The internship is important to St. Cloud State University because it:
Improves the educational process and enlarges the scope of the professional curriculum
Provides a laboratory for application of theoretical knowledge
Provides continuing opportunity for evaluation of the student's needs, abilities, and progress, leading to adjustment of his/her program of study.
Requires faculty contact with professional health leaders and operating agencies on a cooperative working basis.
Leads to continuing evaluation of the entire curriculum as well as its field phase.
Increases its services and scope of influence.
The Internship is important to the agency because it:
Represents the agency's responsibility in preparing professional health leaders of the future.
Provides contact with trained professional workers in the field of health and relates agency services to current theory and practice.
Stimulates professional staff and strengthens the in-services development program.
Enlarges the available staff, permitting strengthening of the program.
Gives an opportunity to evaluate prospective staff candidates for later employment.
