The primary responsibility of all members of the faculty and staff of the Athletic Training Education Program is to assure that the program provides students with an educational and clinical experience that meet the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.

Responsibilities of the Medical Director:
In coordination with the program director and clinical coordinator; act as a resource and expert for the medical content of the ATEP in both formal classroom and supervised clinical experiences, help in the establishment of curriculum within the ATEP to meet the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, and assist in the establishment and development of general medical clinical rotations for ATEP students. The Medical Director is a State of Minnesota licensed MD/DO.

Responsibilities of the Program Director:
The Program Director is responsible for the organization and administration of all aspects of the educational program. The director must hold current national certification and be in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC), have a minimum of five years of experience as a BOC-certified athletic trainer, and possess a current state athletic training credential for those states that require professional credentialing for athletic trainers.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Instructor Educator/ Clinical Coordinator
The Clinical Instructor Educator/ Clinical Coordinator in combination with the Program Director is responsible for the instruction of Approved Clinical Educators (ACI's) and Clinical Instructors (CI's) for the Athletic Training Education Program and assessing their performance in the supervision of athletic training students. This position coordinates athletic training student clinical experiences, including the maintenance and development of varied clinical settings both on, and off campus; classroom and clinical instruction and student assessment.

Responsibilities of the Approved Clinical Instructors (ACI)
An approved clinical instructor is a faculty or staff member who provides direct supervision and instruction of students in the clinical aspect of the athletic training educational program. To be an ACI an individual must have been a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer minimum of one year, have current BOC recognition as a Certified Athletic Trainer and have appropriate experience and training in clinical supervision of student athletic trainers.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Instructors (CI)
A clinical instructor must be a credentialed health care professional that supervise the students during clinical and/or field experiences, have regular communication with the appropriate ATEP administrator, and demonstrate understanding of, and compliance, with the policies and procedures of the Athletic Training Educational Program.
