St. Cloud State University places a strong emphasis on student learning and effective teaching. As a future-oriented institution, activities related to assessment of student learning and the promotion of teaching effectiveness are driven by the mission of the university. St. Cloud State University is working to use data to understand the educational needs of students entering a changing world and to engage in planning to assure that students graduate with the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions to be successful.

St. Cloud State University also strives to be a learning-focused institution that is “living its mission” by creating a culture of assessment and accountability. The campus is active in creating systems by which assessment of students is based on clearly stated learning outcomes. St. Cloud State University supports learning by providing excellent resources including a strong focus on access to technology. Teaching is valued on this campus and demonstrated through the commitment of resources, the system of promotion, tenure, and retention, and professional development.
