Attendees: K. Helgeson, H. Evers, D. Wogen, A. Schoenberger, M. Rubinstein, J. Kilborn, M. Spitzer

Agenda

  • Chicago Recap
    • 18 attendees
    • Reviewed what attendees learned at a “debriefing” held on April 13th
    • Drs Spitzer, Helgeson, and Steffens gave a well received and attended presentation on our self-study process
    • Discovered during the course of the conference that SCSU off-site degree programs are not covered by our current HLC accreditation
  • Feedback from Steering Committee members
    • All have tried to encourage participation amongst their colleagues, but colleagues are generally daunted by the amount of information on the feedback website.
    • Dr. Spitzer encouraged students with whom he has met to provide feedback
    • Concern over duplication of work for data.   Need to address a permanent process for future
  • Timeline for writing self-study
    • Created cooperatively with the writing team given the deadlines provided by HLC.
    • A. Schoenberger suggested writing in pairs to save time editing and to achieve the singular voice for the self study.
  • Outline of the self-study- first draft was reviewed.
    • A few corrections and additions were made
    • Per M. Rubinstein, the rational progression of criterions is not necessarily in the order in which they are presented. He learned at the HLC Conference that it should actually be: 1,5,3,4,2.
  • Update on campus feedback
    • Received 15-20 comments per week/criterion
    • Have had to postpone criterion five for an extra week due to a committee chair’s illness. Will post it, the final criterion, on Monday, May 1st.
  • Update on the role of the committees and chairs:
    • Chairs have been asked to complete written summaries for each component that their committee covered.
    • They have also been given a spreadsheet for supporting data and evidence to fill out.
