Date:  October 14, 2005
Time:  11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location:  HH - 114

Meeting called by: Christine M. Imbra

Note taker: Sandra Williams

Attendees: Sarah Riley, Sandra Williams, Holly Evers, Christine M. Imbra

Agenda

  • Business (supplies, equipment, etc.)  Files and other supplies have now been purchased and we should let Holly know if we need something else. Sandra will check with J.C. Turner about shelving units; there might be some in the basement of the Miller Center.  If we have to buy them, be sure we find something with a front edge we can use for labeling materials. Anything purchased will also be used in the actual resource room, so they should be nice looking.  We might also have a use for a card catalog unit like in the old library. Sandra will also check on that and a supply of 3 x 5 cards.
  • Everything that has come in so far has been in binders or on a CD.  A suggestion was made that perhaps we should ask groups like the Women’s Center and Public Safety to send us their annual reports from the last five years. These could be burned onto a CD-ROM.
  • Creating a process for cataloging evidence (electronic and hard copy)
  • We will work during the next meeting to organize what’s come in so far. They are resources for the committees.  Holly has made a list of what’s here and she will send it to Christine, Sarah, and Sandra.  What will we do with copies that aren’t electronic? How will we refer to them?  We decided we would like to invite Sara Grachek to attend our next meeting so we can get her advice on ways to use the NCA website to our advantage.
  • Virtual site visit (U of M) The website is www.academic.umn.edu/accreditation/index.html We spent time looking through this site and found it very attractive and easy to use.  We will each study this site next week instead of meeting. Another site to take a look at is the Eastern Illinois University site at www.eiu.edu/~acaffair/NCA   Since this study was completed this spring, it also includes the final report of the NCA team.  More sites are listed in the Assessment Committee reports found in SharePoint
