  • Announcements
    • March 16th Student Focus group-
      • Invited 260,  18 responded, 8 came
      • Rich conversation
      • Help from 2 graduate students
    • April 12th Faculty/Staff breakfast- “The Distinctive Organization”
      • Last faculty/staff focus group
      • Postcard will go out Thursday morning
      • Many said these meetings were a model and need to be continued in some fashion to continue to foster conversations across faculty/staff and college divides.
    • April 17th- Undergrad and Grad student focus groups
      • Moving towards “plan b” based upon March 16th turn-out
      • Will put an ad in Chronicle inviting undergraduate participation
      • Might use free i-pod as incentive, if Provost approves
      • Those present were asked to announce in classroom
      • M. Nook recommended using Residence Life.
      • D. Gazal recommended going through Associations.
      • Grad student invitation was a broadcast email to all full-time grad students. Have heard back from about 15 students.
  • Feedback-
    • Will send out an email at the beginning of each week inviting participation on the new set of questions
    • Encourage participation amongst committee members- especially in secondary areas
  • Matrix
    • Evidence and Data worksheet in each committee folder in Sharepoint
    • Use “Report Inventory” as an example
    • Need to label each worksheet separately, so there is no confusion
  • Next Steps – for committees
    • Focus on data and exhibits
    • Need to create folder for each committee in Documents and Reports for evidence
    • Asked each committee to consider writing a summary narrative on each criterion with recommendations
    • K. Steffens asked all to consider how HLC will live on.

      • “institutionalize the self study”
  • Additional questions or comments
    • L. Sreerama asked to meet the writing team at the next meeting.
    • K. Steffens is still trying to add 2 people to the team. One person turned her down. Gordon Schrank is recommended by many people from COSE. Marsha Shoemaker and Marge Proell were rec’d by Steve Ludwig.
