Health Promotion Department
What is the Health Promotion Department?
The Health Promotions Department consists of one coordinator, a few Graduate Assistants, a great Student Staff and
a number of volunteer R.E.A.C.H. Peer Educators who educate S.C.S.U. students
on a variety of health concerns and also increase the awareness
of particular health issues of interest to college age students.
Services
Services provided by Health Promotion Department include prevention
and awareness activities (booths, programs/presentations, flyers/posters, etc.). These programs consist of activities designed
for education and skill development. If you are interested in having
a Health Promotion program for your class, residence hall, fraternity/sorority

. We also have a HUGE assortment of informational brochures available
for NO charge.

They also distribute health literature to the residenc halls, provide various
educational programs and are involved in planning for Main Street,
Sidestreet, World AIDS Day , Sexual Responsibility Week, Cancer Awareness Month, and
more. If you are interested in becoming a peer educator and
obtaining excellent skills in Public Speaking, Marketing, Program

Benefits:
There is no monetary benefit of becoming a R.E.A.C.H. peer educator. Peer
educators will gain hands on experience in program planning, education,
marketing and many different aspects of health promotion. We are
a recognized Student Organization at SCSU and are also affiliated
with the National and Regional Bacchus Gamma Peer Educator Network.
Our Peer Educators will also have the opportunity to become Certified
Bacchus Peer Educators through a training, which is administrated
during spring semester each year. There is also a Spring Regional Conference that we attend and usually present at.
