Radiologic Technology Program Information
At St. Cloud State University, the Radiologic Technology program is part of the School of Health and Human Services. Radiologic Technologists are the medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care. They may specialize in a specific imaging technique, such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computed tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, quality management, sonography or general radiography (Information provided by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists). The St. Cloud State University program in Radiologic Technology focuses on general radiography. Although sonography (i.e., ultrasound imaging) is officially part of the field of Radiologic Technology, training in sonography is done in dedicated sonography programs. The SCSU program in Radiologic Technology does not include clinical training in sonography.
Important News (November 10, 2011): New course requirements for the major have been approved. Chemistry 211 (General Chemistry 2) and Biology 266 (Medical Terminology) are required for the major. These courses are already in the course map. See the "Course Information" link on the left for details.
New Requirements for Admission to the Major (as of November 10, 2011):

Degree Requirements
The bachelor of science degree in radiologic technology requires a prescribed curriculum at St. Cloud State University and clinical course work at an affiliated school of radiologic technology.
During the first two years, students take science courses and liberal education courses at St. Cloud State University.
The clinical radiologic courses are taken during the last two years. This is called the clinical phase, and the courses in it prepare students to take the national certification examination in radiologic technology as well as fulfill the graduation requirements for the bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from St. Cloud State University.
The affiliated schools of radiologic technology are listed in the "Clinical Affiliates" link (see left-side of this page for link).
