Target Corporation awards students $4,000 in Case Study Competition
Target Corporation awarded a $4,000 case study grant to Dr. Olivia Lee for her Spring 2009 Strategic Marketing course. Twenty-six students competed for four $1,000 awards by preparing and presenting strategies to help Target meet its changing demographic needs. The winning team, Zen Marketing, was comprised of G.R. Herberger College of Business students Matthew Jensen, Tarek Kotby, Makenzie Hannine, and Michael Watrud. Congratulations, Team Zen Marketing!

Congratulations, Professor Mary Soroko!
Professor Mary Soroko earned the Certified Etiquette Professional (CEP) Certification from the International Society of Certified Protocol and Etiquette Professionals (ISPEP). ISPEP administers the only internationally recognized exam-based certification in the world. To earn the certification, applicants must pass a four hour exam and demonstrate that they have taught etiquette skills for three or more years.
Congratulations, Dr. Orn Bodvarsson!
Dr. Orn Bodvarsson, Management Department Chair, co-authored a book on the economics of immigration with Hendrik F. Van den Berg of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The book, "The Economics of Immigration. Theory and Policy," was published in May 2009 by Springer and covers the economic theory of immigration, which explains why people move across borders and details the consequences of such movements for the source and destination economies. The book also describes immigration policy, providing both a history of immigration policy in a variety of countries and using the economic theory of immigration to explain the determinants and consequences of the policies.

Professor Alex Polacco received the 2008/2009 HCoB Faculty of the Year Award, sponsored by COBEC. Students nominate faculty members for the award, and then a COBEC student committee blind reviews the nominations and selects the winner. Mr. Polacco is a faculty member in the Management Department.
Congratulations, Dr. Paul Safonov!
Dr. Paul Safonov received the 2008/2009 Outstanding Faculty Support Award at the BCIS Club Banquet on April 26, 2009. This is the second time Dr. Safonov has received the award.
Congratulations, Dr. Elaine Davis and Dr. Janell Kurtz!
Drs. Davis and Kurtz along with co-author Dr. Yu received the best research paper award for their article entitled, "Medical Tourism to India: The Growing U.S. Patient Market." The award was presented at the Eleventh Annual International Business Summit, INBUSH, organized by Amity International Business School in Noida, India.

Drs. Davis and Kurtz received the best research paper presentation award for the presentation of "Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: Compliance in India," an article co-authored by Drs. Kurtz and Davis. The award was presented at the Eleventh Annual International Business Summit, INBUSH, organized by Amity International Business School in Noida, India.

The Journal of Total Quality Management & Business Excellence recently announced that Dr. Changsoo Sohn and his co-author Suresh K. Tadisina are the winners of the 2008 Gopal Kanji Best Paper Prize, for their article "Development of e-service quality measure for internet-based financial institutions."

Dr. Paul Safonov received the best paper award for his presentation, "Information Systems on the Service of Sustainable Development: Business Perspective," at the Applied Business Research (ABR) Conference in Honolulu, HI, on January 5-8, 2009.

Dr. Dennis Guster and Dr. Richard Sundheim, along with co-author Liangjun You, received the 2008 best paper award from the Journal of Informatics Research for their article, "Using the Packet Analysis Method to Teach Secure Communications in Client/Server Computing."
