Congratulations, 2013 C. K. Nelson Student Paper Contest Winners!

Teams of SCSU Herberger Business School students won the first and second place awards in the APICS bi-district 2013 C. K. Nelson Student Paper Contest. Topics were related to the field of operations and supply chain management. The competition was open to schools from the Heartland and Terra Grande districts which include nineteen states and Mexico.

The first place winning team members were: Brad Overby, Brandon Molnar, and Jon Willert. The second place winning team members were: Garrett Redford, Ross Gunderson, and Dheesh Shiraz. Congratulations, students!

Congratulations, Derek EvensonDerek Evenson

Derek Evenson, HBS management major, was awarded the Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship for 2013/2014. Derek wrote an essay on business ethics to receive the award.

The funds for this scholarship are provided by the national chapter of BGS with matching funds provided by the local BGS chapter.

 

Congratulations, Real Estate Students

On April 22, 2013, six real estate students presented at the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) University Challenge at the Mall of America. They were given the charge of coming up with a development to place on a lot in downtown Minneapolis. The same assignment was given to real estate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Northern Iowa, University of St. Thomas, and Marquette University. The students presented their work to real estate professionals who are members of the NAIOP. The SCSU team proposed a mixed use facility that included retail space, office space, and apartments. Congratulations, Student Research Colloquium Participants

Fifty-eight HBS students participated in the 16th Annual Student Research Colloquium on April 16th in the Atwood Memorial Center. HBS students gave a total of 25 paper and poster presentations.

St. Cloud State University's annual campus-wide Student Research Colloquium (SRC) promotes research, scholarship and creative work in collaboration with faculty as a vital component of higher education. Faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students from St. Cloud State University and regional universities are encouraged to participate. Industry sponsors are also invited to attend. The goal of the SRC is to bring together students, faculty and members of the community involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines.

Congratulations, Husky AMA

Husky AMA, the student-run marketing organization from St. Cloud State University, was ranked in the top 25 among hundreds of collegiate chapters at the 35th International Collegiate Conference held March 21 – 23, 2013, at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The American Marketing Association of St. Cloud State University, or “Husky AMA”, received recognition for outstanding performance in membership, fundraising, and professional development events/activities. With the support of their faculty advisors, students set goals and devised strategies that resulted in (1) approximately 40 new member recruits, (2) nearly $10,000 in funds raised to support the organization, and (3) more than 30 professional development opportunities geared towards the growth and education of students.

Congratulations, SCSU APICS Team

A team of SCSU students won the First Place award in the APICS Great Lakes District Student Case Competition in Chicago on February 22-23, 2013. The team members were: Jared Williams and Joseph Kucan, undergraduate students from the Herberger Business School; and Ling Li and Mayur Mohite, graduate students from the Engineering Management program. The SCSU team competed against 22 other teams from across the nation including Purdue, Ball State, Northern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin (various locations), Indiana State University, Western Michigan University, and others. The team will now represent the Heartland District and the Great Lakes District at the International Conference Case Competition in Orlando this September.

Congratulations, NSF Scholarship Recipients

The SCSU NSF-STEM Award Ceremony was held on December 5, 2012, in the Atwood Memorial Center.  The purpose of the event was not only to celebrate the 10 students who received two-year scholarships, but also to network and establish relationships with two-year colleges and other NSF-STEM projects in the state.  About 80 people including representatives from ten community colleges, families and friends of the scholarship recipients, President Potter, Provost Malhotra, many deans, faculty, and staff attended. An article about the award ceremony was published in the St. Cloud Times.
