St. Cloud State University's Herberger Business School is offering to law enforcement officials five days of training – free – on computer crime and digital forensics techniques on February 20 - 24.  This Cyber Crime Initiative is offered in cooperation with the National Forensics Training Center, a Department of Justice-funded center that has trained more than 1,200 law enforcement officers in the techniques.

The training, to be held on the St. Cloud State campus, is completely free of charge.  Completion of the training is worth up to 40 POST Credits.

To keep up with all aspects of criminal behavior, law enforcement officers increasingly need special training to investigate crimes committed with and against computers.  The training is a response to the increased ease with which people can access the Internet to commit crimes as well as the increased emphasis on issues of homeland security. Participants will learn ways to uncover, protect, and exploit digital evidence to respond to crimes.

For more information or to participate, view the Cyber Crime Workshop flyer or contact SCSU Associate Professor of Business Computer Information Systems Dr. Mark Schmidt, by email at cias@stcloudstate.edu or by phone at (320) 308-4988.

The Business Computer Information Systems program is part of the Herberger Business School. The Herberger Business School prepares students for careers in business and is accredited by AACSB International.
