Professional Selling Specialization

5 courses. 15 credits. Open to all SCSU students*. 

The Professional Selling Specialization (PSS) was developed to help meet the needs of the ever growing professional selling and sales management fields, as well as, to strengthen your competitive advantage as you begin and pursue your careers.

The PSS will provide you with the essential communication, leadership, professional selling, and sales management skills to succeed in the world of sales.

The PSS courses are taught by Herberger Business School faculty, along with participation from area business professionals. The courses include traditional classroom faculty and guest lectures combined with experiential learning opportunities through role-play activities, digital recording, and feedback of sales presentations in the state-of-the-art Northwestern Mutual Sales Lab.

This 15 credit program, taught in a 5 course format covers:
Principles of Marketing
Business Communications
Professional Selling Skills
Sales Management
Professional Selling Specialization includes:     
     Professional Selling Practicum and Shadowing
     Sales Management Practicum and Shadowing
     Global Marketing/Culture in Professional Selling
     Social Media and Technology in Professional Selling 

*Must be admitted to an SCSU major at time of application for admittance to PSS.

Northwestern Mutual Sales Lab 

The purpose of the Northwestern Mutual Sales Lab is to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for students to experience sales presentations in an interactive, real-world business setting. The lab offers a viewing/ control room with digital recording capabilities, presentation critiques, and real-time instructor/student feedback.
