New Student Orientation
Health Services and Student Insurance
SCSU offers a Student Health Services facility on campus to meet the medical and health-related needs of our students. SHS provides high-quality, affordable, primary health care to students with an emphasis on prevention. SHS is staffed with board certified MDs, pharmacists, RNs, LPNs, and lab technicians. The charges for office visits, lab work, prescriptions, and special procedures are very reasonable and usually less than community clinics.
The clinic provides general medical care including diagnosis and treatment of injuries. Such services include:
- Diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury
- Diagnostic laboratory testing
- Pelvic exams, Pap smears, contraceptives, and pregnancy testing
- Physical exams for employment, travel, athletics, etc.
- Testing for sexually transmitted diseases
- Immunizations, allergy injections
- Full service pharmacy that can fill your prescription from any service provider and transfer an existing prescription from your home pharmacy.
Currently enrolled students can use all services. Having medical insurance is not a prerequisite to using the on-campus Health Services. Health Services is available to any student regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or ethnicity.
