Culminating Project

Your graduate program may be one that requires a culminating project. Your culminating project, also known as Plan A, Plan B, or Plan C, can be a Thesis, Field Study, Starred Paper, Creative Work, or Portfolio, and is completed at the end of your graduate program.

Whatever your culminating project, you will probably need a format and style manual. These manuals provide detailed instructions on the format and style in which the project needs to follow. These manuals are available for purchase at the Husky Bookstore for under $4. Your program adviser will also assist you with this process.

A detailed description of each culminating project is available in the Graduate Bulletin and is also available on-line at http://bulletin.stcloudstate.edu/gb/options/components.asp. If your program offers several culminating project plans, you will want to become familiar with each one before selecting the plan that is best for you and your future career goals.

A checklist for culminating projects is also housed on the School of Graduate Studies Web site at www.stcloudstate.edu/graduatestudies/current/project.asp. This checklist will provide all of the requirements for submitting your culminating project in accordance with the requirements for graduation. Please be sure to reference this checklist when you are ready to put together your final project. It is the responsibility of the student to know the submission requirements.

Each semester, the deadlines for conference scheduling and project submission are posted on our Web site. You will need to determine your deadlines at least one semester before you plan to submit your final project.
