Support Services
Throughout your time with us, you may want to utilize the services of our many student support facilities. SCSU provides services to its students through the following venues:
Public Safety

Public Safety issues parking permits, provides a 24-hour escort service for students who wish an escort across campus and to parking lots, and assists with disabled vehicles. Public Safety is located behind the Miller Center on 4th Avenue South, at the corner of 4th Avenue South and 6th Street South. To obtain an escort, call 308.3333.
Child Care Center

The Lindgren Child Care Center is available to students with child care needs. The center is located near the south end of campus next to the Engineering and Computing Center, adjacent to 10th Street. Student Disability Services

SDS is SCSU's program to provide support service for students with a physical, cognitive or mental/emotional disability. The goal is to provide facility and programmatic access through reasonable accommodations to allow students with disabilities an equal opportunity for academic success. The services provided by SDS are:
- Priority registration
- Sign language/oral interpreting
- Note taking
- Alternative testing
- Taped textbooks
- Support services

Counseling Center

SCSU provides a counseling center free of charge to its students. The Counseling Center provides assistance with issues such as:
- Academic skills
- Alcohol/substance abuse
- Career choice
- Eating disorders
- Grief and loss
- Traumatic events

The Write Place

The Write Place offers writing and composition assistance to students of any major. Students may go to The Write Place to seek assistance with writing composition, writing skills, or grammar. The Write Place is located in Riverview Hall and on-line at www.stcloudstate.edu/writeplace.

Health Services

SCSU maintains an on-campus health service facility for its students to obtain needed health care at a cost far less than community clinics. Health Services also manages student health insurance plans. If you are in need of student health insurance, please stop by Health Services to make arrangements. NOTE: International students are required to carry student health insurance. Health Services is located behind Hill-Case Hall. Health Services maintains a Web site at www.stcloudstate.edu/healthservices.
Athletics

As an SCSU student, you are granted admission to all athletic events free of charge with your student ID. Men’s and women’s hockey games are held at the National Hockey Center. Recreation

SCSU offers a full line of recreation and fitness programs for all students at minimal or no charge. Students may take aerobic classes, participate in intramural sports, swim, play basketball, work out in the weight room, and much more.
