In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
• Provide overall support to the School of Public Affairs Dean’s office team. • Assist in development of comprehensive events for School of Public Affairs constituents such as banquets, specialty meetings, award ceremonies, reunions, speaking engagements, etc. • Maintain the School of Public Affairs social media presence. • Assist with event logistics including, but not limited to: creating promotional material, assisting with event registration, contacting event attendees, assisting with event set-up and take down and assisting during events. • Assist with researching, writing and editing stories for the School of Public Affairs Newsletter and other publications. • Collaborate with other campus departments and organizations and attend any appropriate meetings. • Work on special projects as assigned. (e.g. website support, sponsorships, database management, on-line initiatives etc.) • Assist with technological support such as Microsoft Office, scanning, utilizing database software, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. • Assist with student payroll processing. • Assist with asset inventory and reconciling hardware assets. • Assist with troubleshooting and escalating to proper areas as needed.
Admitted to an SCSU graduate program. Able to manage confidential information. 20 hours per week required. Able to work on several nights/few weekends.
• A strong interest in engaging SCSU School of Public Affairs constituents. • Experience in higher education or public relations, event planning, graphic design, information technology and/or marketing preferred. • Position requires a strong display of interpersonal communication and written communication skills, presentation skills, experience in customer service, and the ability to work independently and as a team while maintaining respect for the University and School of Public Affairs when promoting its image. • Experience with social media and online promotion. • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs is preferred. • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. • Ancillary duties include research, evaluation and assessment, event coordination and the ability to manage multiple tasks. • Be able to manage time between coursework and graduate assistantship effectively. • Work effectively with diverse populations. • Awareness of campus and community events.
