Graduate Assistantship

International Recruitment & Admissions Graduate Assistantship in Center for International Studies

20 hours per week

Salary:$5,000.00
In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.

Responsibilities:

Correspond with prospective international students via e-mail, phone, and mail; Intake and organize application materials via paper and electronic to pass on to professional staff for decisions; Ability to learn and work within an online application system; Support the Director and Assistant Director with special projects; Enter and update application information in various databases; Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel). Work cooperatively with the International Recruitment and Admissions team. Scan all application materials into Image Now; Other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

Must be admitted/enrolled into a graduate program at SCSU and eligible for an assistantship for Spring 2014; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Must possess strong organization skills; High attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly; Ability to work with people from diverse cultures; One year or more experience working in a customer service environment; Preference will be given to applicants who will be attending SCSU for at least one year or more, are fluent in a language other than English, and who have high school or college admissions office experience.
