Graduate Assistantship

In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.

Responsibilities:

The Minnesota Teacher Licensure Exam (MTLE) Center graduate assistants will be responsible for the daily operations of the center, including working directly with students, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment and working within all School of Education guidelines and policies. They are the first contact students have when seeking information or resources regarding professional licensure exams and expectations. It is critical that these graduate assistants be knowledgeable, empathetic, self-directed and resourceful. The MTLE Center Advisor will: • Provide information and resources to students in a respectful, knowledgeable manner • Maintain student confidentiality • Assist students by providing study materials and individualized tutoring • Maintain all office equipment in working order • Monitor office inventory and request timely replacements when supplies run low • Provide MTLE overviews for individual classes and events • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of testing requirements • Attend bi-weekly team meetings • Assist with Assessment/Accreditation as needed

Qualifications:

* Working knowledge of databases * Working knowledge of spreadsheets * Ability to understand basic statistics (mostly descriptive but some inferential) * Ability to maintain confidentiality * Good verbal and written communication skills, especially evidence of ability to develop technical reports under supervision * Ability to communicate well in English * Counseling skills * Ability to work on a team * Ability to work independently and on complex projects to completion * Attention to detail * Organizational skills

Demonstrated Traits:

* Ability to understand basic statistics (mostly descriptive but some inferential) * Ability to maintain confidentiality * Good verbal and written communication skills, especially evidence of ability to develop technical reports under supervision * Ability to communicate well in English * Counseling skills * Ability to work on a team * Ability to work independently and on complex projects to completion * Attention to detail * Organizational skills
