Graduate Assistantship

Assessment and Accreditation Research Assistant in School of Education, Dean's Office

Hours:

20 hours per week.

Salary:$10,000 for the academic year
In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.

Responsibilities:

The graduate assistant will work with the Assessment Director in the School of Education to organize data sets related to the assessment mission of the education unit at St. Cloud State University. The preferred candidate will know how to a) develop and query databases; b) calculate descriptive and basic inferential statistics (especially using SASW, formerly SPSS); c) manage spreadsheets; d) work well with others; and e) write up results of studies (some evidence of the ability to write up original research results would be useful). Some on-the-job training is available. - Work with assessment personnel to attain and organize data sets for accreditation and assessment purposes - Clean data sets of errors (duplicate cases, corrupted values) - Run descriptive statistics using SASW, formerly SPSS - Run appropriate inferential statistics using SASW, formerly SPSS - Assist the assessment director with administrative tasks as requested (letters, requests, studies) - Enter raw data into applications -Attend assessment- and accreditation-related meetings as requested

Qualifications:

-Working knowledge of databases - Working knowledge of spreadsheets - Ability to understand basic statistics (mostly descriptive but some inferential) - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Good verbal and written communication skills, especially evidence of ability to develop technical reports under supervision - Ability to communicate well in English - Ability to work on a team - Ability to work independently and on complex projects to completion - Attention to detail - Organizational skills
