Public Relations and Social Media Graduate Assistant in Alumni Relations

In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
-Provide overall support to the Alumni and Constituent Engagement Departments team. -Assist in development of comprehensive events for SCSU alumni and the campus community such as banquets, specialty meetings, award ceremonies, reunions, mentoring program etc. -Maintain the alumni online community, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter Pages. -Assist with event logistics including, but not limited to: creating promotional material, assisting with event registration, contacting event attendees and RSVPs, assisting with event set-up and take down and assisting during events. -Assist with researching, writing and editing stories for the Outlook Magazine and other alumni publications. -Assist with technological support such as Microsoft Office, scanning, utilizing database software, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. -Attend SCSU Alumni Association Board of Directors and committee meetings as needed. -Collaborate with other campus departments and organizations and attend any appropriate meetings. -Work on special projects as assigned. (i.e. web design, sponsorships, database management, volunteer recognition, and on-line initiatives.)
Admitted to an SCSU graduate program. Able to manage confidential information. 20 hours per week required. Able to work on select nights/weekends.
-A strong interest in engaging alumni with St. Cloud State University. -Experience in higher education or public relations, event planning, graphic design and marketing preferred. -Position requires a strong display of interpersonal communication and written communication skills, presentation skills, experience in customer service, and the ability to work independently and as a team member. -Experience with social media and online promotion. -Experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs is preferred. -Ancillary duties include research, evaluation and assessment, event coordination and the ability to manage multiple tasks. -Be able to manage time between coursework and graduate assistantship effectively. -Knowledge and understanding of the history and traditions of St. Cloud State University. -Work effectively with diverse populations.
