In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
This graduate assistantship provides student services to SCSU’s graduate students, through employment in the School of Graduate Studies. Specialized responsibilities include: Planning, marketing, and executing major events such as graduate student orientation, GA orientation,and graduate student appreciation week; Plan and execute professional development and academic support workshops, and community building events throughout Fall/Spring semesters; Collaborate with student life and development and academic units; Market workshops using posters, email, web and social media tools; Assist with advising of Graduate Student Organization and coordination of Student Advisory Board; Provide support for the School of Gradaute Studies including assisting student walk-ins, occassional recruitment activities, and office support.
Applicants must be admitted to a graduate degree program. Students enrolled in the College Student Development, Higher Education Administration, Educational Administration, and Community Counseling programs are encouraged to apply, as well as students from other programs with desired skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and use of social media for communication and marketing. Previous experience in student services, program development, event planning or project management. Can speak positively about his/her graduate experience and the benefits of pursuing graduate education at SCSU.
Strong command of English in speaking, writing, and listening. Strong communication skills, solid writing, editing, and interpersonal skills are sought. Competence in using Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite. Use of Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and other social media tools. Ability to multi-task, initiate projects, reliable, genial and self-starter. Website editing and maintenance experience is preferred.
