Graduate Assistantship

Position Available:

Faculty Teaching Assistant in the Department of Social Work in Department of Social Work

College/Office:

School of Health and Human Services

Employment Start Date:

08/20/2013

Length of Appointment:

August 20, 2013 through May 9, 2014

Hours:

May include occasional evening hours.Monday through Friday, 20

Salary:$10,000
In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities support faculty in teaching and related assignments including: - Attention to course activities and assignments such as grading of exams or reviewing student papers, development of classroom media resources, structuring of D2L; - Development of course resources and supports; - Development of course bibliographies; - Assistance with BSW application process; - Knowledge of Child Welfare Grant and facilitation of application, completion of forms, communication with recipients; - Oversight and development of scholarship opportunities for BSW & MSW students; - Communication with current students on matters related to their professional education and development; (e.g. MSSA, Social Work Month) - Oversight of job opportunities postings; - Understands social work ethics; - Prepare and present undergraduate classes under faculty guidance; - Other duties related to administrative and research support may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Required: - A bachelorís degree from an accredited institution; - Full admission to a graduate degree program at St. Cloud State University is required; - Demonstrated ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds; - Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail; - Strong written communication skills including clarity of ideas, proper grammar, and editing; - Strong oral communication skills including ability to express of ideas, clarify information, and engage others; - Competence in using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook; - Able to or willing to learn D2L; - Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments. Preferred: - Experience or knowledge of learning processes; - Familiarity with human service organizations in Central Minnesota.
