Graduate Assistant in Campus Recreation Fitness Center

Salary:$10,000 per academic year
In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
1. Manage the Campus Recreation Fitness Center including: - assist the Coordinator of Fitness Programs in hiring, scheduling, training, supervising and evaluating all student staff - train student staff in fitness center policies and procedures - train student staff in equipment orientations - oversee the fitness center student management team - coordinate the maintenance and cleaning of all fitness center equipment - maintain proper record of all fitness equipment repairs - coordinate volunteer opportunities and track bonus buck system - assist in the preparation of the fitness center annual budget - assist in research and procurement of fitness center equipment - conduct annual participant satisfaction surveys as well as other assessment instruments - manage the fitness center/studio computers and class software 2. Assist with the supervision of the Personal Training Department 3. Assist the Campus Recreation marketing team with promotion of all fitness related programs -Design a marketing plan for each semester to increase participation in Group Fitness classes, Tours/Orientations and Personal Training. 4. Assist in the administration of all departments special events involving fitness programming. Special events include but not limited to: Main Street, Side Street Husky fun run, Earth Day, Atwood booths, SCSU on the Move. 5. Coordinate programs and services - development and implementation of incentive programs - Coordinate with the Human performance Lab on fitness evaluations including body fat assessment, blood pressure checks, flexibility testing, etc. - Conduct fitness/wellness workshops and presentations 6. Coordinate in-house personal training certification program
- Current certification from a nationally recognized fitness organization (ie: ACSM, ACE, NASM, AFAA, or NSCA). - CPR/first aid certification - Experience in Fitness Programming - Supervising Experience - Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
