In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
- Work with the Director and Office Manager in developing a comprehensive service program for students with disabilities, which emphasizes academic support services, advocacy and disability awareness. - Work with the Office Manager to carry out the overall management of Student Disability Services, including staffing, and coordination of comprehensive accommodations for students. - Coordinate and implement effective volunteer note taker recruitment, training and supervision. Report data for evaluations of note takers and by note takers. - Work one on one with students on time management, study skills and general academic services - Assist in development of promotional and educational materials for department. - Work with specific projects as assigned by the Director and Office Manager
Acceptance to a graduate program with background specifically related to the workings of the office, i.e. Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, etc.
The following are the skills and personal characteristics required for the student chosen for this assistantship: Organizational skills, critical thinker, interpersonal communication skills and a high level of sensitivity, self-motivation and a high degree of understanding of confidentiality, basic PC skills, counseling or advising skills.
