Career Development Graduate Assistantship in Career Services Center

In addition to the salary/stipend, both full-time and part-time graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission based on appointment type.
1) Advising students and alumni in career development related areas; resume and cover letter writing, job/internship searching, interviewing, major/career exploration and self-assessment. 2) Assisting students and alumni in 15 minute Drop-In appointments. 3) Conduct mock interviews with students and provide feedback on interviewing skills. 4) Making appropriate referrals to on- and off-campus community resources. 5) Conducting presentations on career services aspects as needed which include, but are not limited to, introduction to career services, resume writing, internship/job searching and interviewing. 6) Promoting services, seminars and events through educational programming and outreach. 7) Participate in staff development opportunities. 8) Developing and/or deliver educational programming to address career related topics. 9) Providing consultation to faculty, staff, and students on career related issues. 10) Working on projects to contribute to the general mission and operation of Career Services. 11) Assisting in the training and development of Peer Career Advisors. Work closely with CSC staff to assist in overseeing and/or supervising the work of undergraduate student staff members. This is an excellent opportunity for, but not limited to, graduate students seeking careers in college student development, higher education administration, counseling, human resource management, training and development, and related areas.
Must be a graduate student admitted to a recognized program and registered for a minimum of 6 credits if working 10 hours per week. Eight credits are required for 15-20 hour per week assistantships. To determine eligibility and number of credits needed, please contact the Office of Graduate Studies, AS 121. 1) Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. 2) Must possess counseling or advising skills. 3) Must be comfortable with public speaking. 4) Must be willing to take initiative and step out of comfort zone. 5) Ability to represent office in a professional manner to a wide variety of audiences. 6) Demonstrated initiative and flexibility with good time management skills. 7) Able to work independently and on group projects. 8) Able to effectively utilize resources and be creative. 9) Basic PC skills required. Advanced PC skills a plus. 10) Ability to work on special projects as needed such as assessment, project development, grant writing, social media, web media or other areas of interest
