Complete this application during the first two weeks of your final semester. The deadline to apply for fall graduation is September 15. Summer graduates should file an application no later than July 28th. Summer graduates may elect to participate in the Fall commencement and hooding ceremony.

A graduation checklist to keep you on track for graduation is included with the application, please read carefully.

Fall Semester 2008 Commencement and Hooding Ceremony


Date of Ceremony: Friday, December 19, 2008
Time: 7:30 p.m. .
Location: Stewart Hall, Ritsche Auditorium

Prior to the Ceremony

Deadline for participation:

Graduate students interested in participating in the spring ceremony must complete the graduation application by Monday, September 15, 2008.  Please email Linda Krueger at lekrueger@stcloudstate.edu with any questions.

Ordering academic regalia:

Students may order academic regalia in person through the Husky Bookstore in Centennial Hall, beginning in November. Cost for the cap, gown, tassel and hood is $63.75 (please contact the Bookstore to confirm cost). Another option for ordering regalia is:

  • By phone: Order your regalia by calling 320.308.1489 with your credit card payment.
  • All orders placed phone will be charged $5.95 for shipping and handling and are shipped via UPS Ground.

Tickets:

Tickets are not required for the ceremony.

Participants or guests with special needs:

Please contact Linda Krueger in the School of Graduate Studies (320.308.2113 or lekrueger@stcloudstate.edu ) no later than one week prior to the ceremony.

Change in plans?

If your plans change and you decide not to attend the ceremony, please notify the School of Graduate Studies at 320.308.2113 or lekrueger@stcloudstate.edu.

Student check in:

Students should arrive to Steward Hall no later than 6:45 p.m. with their academic regalia. Students should report to Stewart Hall, rooms 106 and 108 to check in and prepare for commencement line-up. Please make every effort to have your academic regalia neatly pressed. Student rooms will be locked during the ceremony for coats/bags.

Faculty check in:

Faculty should arrive to Stewart Hall no later than 6:45 p.m. with their academic regalia. Report to Stewart Hall, room 110 to check in and prepare for commencement line-up. The faculty room will be locked during the ceremony for coats/bags.

Length of ceremony:

Approximately one hour.

Reception:

A dessert reception will be held prior to the ceremony, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All faculty, graduates, family and friends are invited to attend.

Photos and Videotaping:

  1. Please be advised that state fire regulations strictly prohibit standing in the aisles or in front of the auditorium stage. Guests wishing to take photos or videotape during the ceremony are asked to do so from their seats.
  2. The SCSU Alumni Association has arranged to have photographs taken of each graduate as you are hooded and again when you receive your diploma. Information about how the photos can be purchased will be sent following graduation. Since there will be professional photography services, we request your cooperation in asking guests to remain seated and not come forward to take pictures during the hooding and presentation of the diplomas.
  3. Additionally, you are welcome to remain in the auditorium and pose for pictures following the ceremony with your adviser and family.

Parking:

All parking lots on campus will be open and free to graduates and guests. A campus map is available on our website. Signs will be posted to direct guests to parking lots.

NOTE: Commencement attendance does not imply that you have officially graduated. Please contact the School of Graduate Studies with any questions you have, or to confirm your degree clearance status.

Receiving Your Diploma

Graduating students will receive their diploma in the mail approximately eight weeks after the end of the semester. All diplomas are mailed to the diploma address. You must provide this address through the Online Services center at www.stcloudstate.edu/registrar. If you do not provide this address, receipt of your diploma will be delayed. If you experience any difficulty in entering your diploma address, please contact the registration helpline at 320. 308.3936.
